Underwhelming

cellolvr448, Amazon
12 February 2014
  • Summary: I bought this because I needed something a little faster than what I had a couple years ago and the price was right at the time. It's worked fine but like someone else said, this is a flaky router. We've had it about 2 years and it needs to be powered off and restarted about 3 times a week now.

Great little router

Richard V., Newegg
18 August 2013
  • Summary: I don't know what people expect from an inexpensive router... or maybe if I've just been lucky in the 5-10 of these I've worked with. That said, as of today I'm not using any other routers, and have only considered one other brand due to cost savings alone (and the reliability I've had with that...
  • Pros: I've personally used and have installed these routers for clients in the past. I don't know why the bad reviews, but I've had no trouble with them in any way. The firmware on Engenius devices seems very reliable and flexible. Engenius has a quality website and has had good support each time I've ...
  • Cons: I sometimes feel that with Engenius' background in wireless telephony, that their wifi would be a bit stronger. It isn't bad though, and there are about 1000 settings you can chose from. The device is small and light weight. I wouldn't use it for any large commercial purposes... but for homes and...

User Review

TSUEIYUN L., Newegg
31 May 2013
  • Summary: I don't know the range of this device since I used it for my dorm. However, for that purpose, and given the price of this unit, it works excellently.
  • Pros: Cheap router, good connection, no issues
  • Cons: A bit lightweight which allowed it to be flipped around a bit by some stiff cables

Waste of time and money

Janusz T., Newegg
15 May 2013
  • Summary: No support available. Only sales people left. Posts on linkedin show that engineering team left the company last year. That would explain many mistakes on their website. Firmware update not working because file is for ESR1221 not N2. Dead links or they take you to smoke detectors!!!
  • Pros: It looked cheap but time wasted for troubleshooting counts many more times.
  • Cons: It just died for no reason. Cheaply made.

Useless router . . .

Richard E., Newegg
14 May 2013
  • Summary: Pray that Newegg never gets these in stock again - as no matter how cheap they are - you should avoid it. They do not work for long - and they aren't even heavy enough to be a paperweight afterwards! Stay far away from Engenius products.
  • Pros: it was cheap . . .
  • Cons: it was cheap for a good reason - it is junk. it lasted 2 months - now it refuses to connect to the internet no matter what I try. firmware updates for this model off the engenius website are apparently all corrupt as the router refuses to install them (says they are invalid). So I'm back to my ol...

Short lifespan

William L., Newegg
19 April 2013
  • Summary: It was worth the $12 but I'd never pay $36 for it
  • Pros: Worked great. Easy configuration. Was? $12 at time of purchase.
  • Cons: Died after three months. No power or anything.

Connection unreliable

Jeffrey V., Newegg
13 April 2013
  • Summary: You get what you pay for -hardly worth returning.
  • Pros: Cheap, wired router works great
  • Cons: Wireless connection is unreliable; Netflix stops with network error once every couple of hours of viewing, streaming media to iPad, laptop quits, AirPort Express cannot keep a connection for longer than a few minutes. Power cycling doesn't seem to help, it eventually recovers on its own until an ...
