Summary: I was running an Alfa AWUS036NH on a laptop. The power requirements for this Alfa WiFi N adapter slightly exceed the power provided by a USB 2.0 port on a desktop pc and greatly exceed the power a typical laptop USB port provides. This hub comes with a 2.5 at 5 volt plug in power supply which is more than capable of supplying the power that the Alfa AWUS036NH demands to operate correctly. The WiFi reception for this laptop is now excellent.
Summary: well when i recieved my hub it was great for my raspberry pi though i could not power my pi directly with it. after about a month though the power scket broke and i had to hardwire the power supply directly to the pcb.... if you do get this be very careful with the power socket....
D-Link changed this design with the same part Numb
6 June 2012
Summary: D-Link has changed this design but kept the same part number. Make sure you look at D-Link's web site before ordering, the new design is different and smaller. I have the one in the photo, and have been very happy with it. I ordered one for another computer and received the NEW design, which is ok, but not what I wanted.
Summary: I purchased this item because it was recommended by the software and controller company that I use (Tracktor Pro 2 and Native Instruments). So far, it has performed well. It is light in weight, and has a nice professional look. I'm actually thinking about buying the 7 port version as well.
Summary: This hub works well with devices not requiring significant USB power (flash drives, card readers, etc.). Units (2) I was trying to use with AD converter device was reporting excessive USB power consumption, even with power supply connected. 7-port hub from same supplier worked much better, even without power supply.
