Reason gigabit switch, no problems with it.

Jose512, Viewpoints
9 September 2012
  • Excerpt: After testing a few switches of my own (some were not working as well as others), I settled on this Dlink DGS-2208 gigabit switch. This features a full 8 port, an upgrade from my previous 5 port switch. So far, there are no problems with it. It uses the same type of chasis that most of Dlink products have, and all the 8 ports are in the back. In the front, it has lights that tell which port is connected, and which port is sending out data.

  • Summary: D-Link makes a Excellent 8-port Gigabit Switch for home use ,light industrial ,or small office. The switch has excellent throughput and work's very well to run 10 / 100 /1000 (gigabit) device's networked together and used after your router,(or connected to your router for device expansion). You can have more than one speed active, (example one device at 100mps and another at 1000mbs,both at the same time with no problems.

Great Little Gigabit Switch

maricopatekworx, Ebay
1 August 2010
  • Summary: This is the third 2208 in my network. They are great little inexpensive gigabit switches that have helped make my home network hum along nicely. While I wish these were manageable, I would have to spend at least triple the money to get features I would rarely use. You don't need expensive Cat6 cabling to get the advantage of gigabit speeds, either.

To help clear things up...

Paul Barnaby, Amazon
26 June 2010
  • Summary: Hi guys/girls, I noticed that the first review for this item quoted what I had written in a review on Newegg so I thought I'd clear up some discrepancies between what users have been writing in recent reviews compared to earlier ones. From what I understand of this product, hardware version 2 has no problems in a mixed network.

Good, inexpensive choice...

Omar Siddique, Amazon
26 June 2010
  • Summary: I'm a technology junkie, and run networks professionally, so I've had home LANs for years. After several failed desktop gig switches, and reading dozens of user reviews, I picked this model as a combination of reliability and low-price. * I dropped this into place where I had a 100Mb NETGEAR FS608 8-Port Fast Ethernet Switch . My throughput on a large file copy went from about 5.7MB/s to 22MB/s, using the same computers, cables, and software, almost a 4x speedup.
