Not quite right

Dan in Washington, Amazon
30 December 2014
  • Summary: I purchased this product for the dual band, and for the USB 3 port. After months of changing settings, the 2.4GHz band is finally no longer kicking my older devices offline every 20 minutes.

Has to be reset allot.

Jeff Wallin, Amazon
30 August 2013
  • Summary: When it works it works great, but don't count on it being consistent. Tolerated it for about 9 months, will be calling in under warranty, but from what I see from other reviews it is par for the course. Loses connection and you either wait or have to reset it. Have the latest firmware, doesn't help.

Don't buy even if cheap! Unstable even after firmware upgrade.

Mark Carlson, Amazon
23 April 2013
  • Summary: OK, I'll admit it, I bought this router because it was cheap. I found it for about half price as an Amazon Warehouse Deal. I only read the first few reviews and certainly didn't do enough research since the problems I ultimately experienced were shared by many others.

Try another router

Luis Miguel Ruiz, Amazon
12 August 2012
  • Summary: I'm really disappointed with this router. Is really easy to setup but 5 minutes later it began to shut down every 15 minutes. Searching throught the web the only help you got is to turn off all the add-ons to make the router configuration stable.

D-Link DIR-827 review

Vladimir, Amazon
25 April 2012
  • Summary: As wireless Access point i can't complain yet. Signals is strong and everything works pretty fast. I didn't check max throughput though... Where it crashes and burns is in it's DLNA (uPnP) media streaming advertised capabilities.

My first Amazon return

Mo, Amazon
16 April 2012
  • Summary: I really really wanted this to work. The USB plug on my WNDR3700 stopped working after a year and a half, which I used as to stream to devices via Samba. This router and the similar DIR-857 were the only ones I could find that supported USB3.0, so I gave it a shot.

Needs firmware update

Scott K., Newegg
23 February 2012
  • Summary: Once D-Link fixes the bug of not being able to enter anything over 2048kbps in the manual upload speed box for the QOS settings, this thing should ROCK!
  • Pros: Powerful Ubicom processor, 256mb ram.
  • Cons: If your internet upload speed is over 2mbps, then the QOS engine won't work. Some reason, that is the max speed they put into the firmware on this thing.

Worst D-Link router I've owned (and this is number 6).

Amazon Customer, Amazon
8 January 2012
  • Summary: UPDATE: Do NOT buy this model. Or check the D-Link Support Forums to see issues others are having first. DIR-827 purchased on 12/11/2011 and I have to RMA it on 6/6/2012. For the past two months the 2.4GHz radio just stops working.
