Could be better

Corey Klinck, Amazon
30 June 2014
  • Summary: I replaced a refurbished Netgear WNDR3400 (DO NOT BUY THIS ROUTER) with this D-Link. There was some improvement, but the customer reported even better WiFi performance from an Apple Airport Extreme.

good router for price

Robert B Willman, Amazon
27 March 2014
  • Summary: i am not a professional, but, i am pretty good with tech, not networking. Anyhow, set-up was very simply, I mainly purchased because i upgraded my cable internet to a higher speed and wanted something that would support the speed upgrade, and it has, just by installing this router, my throughput doubled/tripled in some instances.

Excellent router - but beware...attached USB drive is no NAS!

Michael, Amazon
13 January 2014
  • Summary: This router is excellent in terms of range and functionality. Setup was easy enough to enable me to connect to my ISP and I was able to use the router to effect DHCP reservations on my network, as well as to set up port forwarding to enable access to devices over the Internet. The range is excellent and I was able to see this router from parts of my house, previously impossible with the D-Link DIR-615 that this router replaced.

Good router for the price

William Santiago, Amazon
29 December 2013
  • Summary: After doing tons of research because I didn't know anything about routers before I settled on this one. I needed a simple router for a small apartment and settled on this one, seeing as later on I would get one of the more powerful AC routers. I'm currently using my phone, and PS3 and PS4 and have no issues at all. Sometimes when I go to other rooms the signal isn't as strong and slows down a bit. Overall if you need a simple wireless router I would recommend this one.

  • Summary: It covers the range I needed for wireless but not quite the dame reach as my other router. It did work right out of the box and has an easy to understand interface. Other reviews on this were referring to an older model the N300 that had other issues.

A Great Little Wireless N Gigabit Router for the Price

Stephen M. Keener, Amazon
8 September 2013
  • Summary: This router has worked well so far. I replaced a cheaper Belkin router that was having to be rebooted once a week and really wanted USB connectivity with Gigabit ports without spending $200.00. This has really fit the bill. I didn't really need the 5 GHz as most of my devices don't recognize it, but streaming Netflix to my HDTV or Video to my phone it has been great.

Not too shabby...

Matthew M., Newegg

  • Summary: For the price, I would definitely recommend this router for most consumers. You are getting a lot for your money. As I said above, even advanced users will appreciate all the configuration options that D-Link has provided. That said, you will want to steer clear of this router if you have a lot of 802.11g devices connected to your network. In addition to that, the design of this router is odd and you may not fancy it too much.
  • Pros: Setup was really easy. The quick setup wizard launches automatically when the router is first connected (after opening your web browser of choice). From there, all you have to do is follow the prompts to get your network up and running. Full 802.11n support, which means wireless throughput is more than sufficient for just about anything. The built in switch has four Gigabit Ethernet ports, so they're not going to hold back transfer rates for the wired devices on your ...
  • Cons: Not a fan of the aesthetics. The design is just kind of odd really. The wireless range could be better. It's not dismal, but compared to some of the other modern routers I've tested the 826L doesn't fair so well. 802.11g performance isn't all that great. Stick to 802.11n devices if possible. No USB 3.0 support. This really hurts because there are a lot of nice USB 3.0 external drives that could take advantage of the higher transfer rates.
