save your money , go with a netgear or syslink or better
7 November 2014
Summary: upgrade the firmware manually searching for it by going to dlink's site if you buy it.....or you wont be able to use it after that smash it with a hammer...... save your money, buy a different brand all together. I own this one AND DIR-655.. The DIR-655 is better than this one.....

Summary: It does it job but there are not many configurable options. For example, I cannot get into bridge mode and sometimes my signal gets dropped or really slow. I'm not getting the gigabit speeds as I would expect.
Summary: this router sucks. it always freaks out and we get "connection timeout" notices and sometimes we can find the network, but get no internet service. The customer service is good tho. When it breaks, you will at least be able to get your internet back in ~15 minutes. ref no.
Summary: The precipitous drop in the price of this thing since its release should tell people everything they need to know about it, far more so than its high reviewer rating or its (inexplicable) inclusion on C|Net's "Best Cheap Routers of 2014" list. This dog is anything but.
Summary: It worked fine at first, then it started dropping the connections once a day, so I plugged it into a timer and rebooted it at night. Now it has to be rebooted 3 or 4 times a day. Can't recommend.
didn't want to believe the reviews but now I do...

Summary: The WiFi takes forever to connect ever since I added this thing to my network, there must be something wrong with the DHCP server part or something. The radio also kinda sucks I did get decent range in my home but it's not consistent, seems to go up and down even when I'm sitting still. I disabled it and the other access point still takes a long time to connect. I checked all the settings and can't find what could possibly be wrong.
Pros: Low profile Gigabit Ethernet Easy to set up internet connection with it
Cons: WiFi takes forever to connect It feels really cheap. I know electronics have gotten smaller but GEEZ they really put the minimum into this product. Ethernet ports don't have the metal things, only two lights, no status lights for each port.
Summary: My previous review gave it one star: the device simply did not work on my home network. Another hour later, I found the instructions for simplifying this "media streaming" device to be a wireless AP. Which is all I needed. I am sorry for this follow-up review; I could not figure out how to simply edit my previous review.
Pros: Active and helpful D-Link community. I hope that this forum post can help other NewEgg customers -- I wasted hours of work before I discovered this simple setup. http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=40856.0
Cons: Buggy web configuration is very complex and locked me out of my initial setup. Multiple resets of this device later, I learned to approach it with humility.
Summary: Out of the box, this item had difficulty setting up. After a call to support it was up wired but there were problems with wireless. 2 additional days of support, updating firmware, changing settings, etc. support told me that the item will not send wireless signal through interference. Their definition of interference is sheetrock, glass, air, etc.
