Summary: Very limited range, less than 20 ft! Within 5ft the router works great, 15ft it is very slow, 25ft I cannot pickup a signal with a Kindle or laptop. I made four calls to D-Link technical support, the last call was escalated. After making numerous setup changes D-Link informed me that the level of performance could not be improved. I had an idea I might be in trouble when the automated setup wizard did not work.
Summary: Installing the router was simple. However, the wireless capabilities crashed continuously. I have since packed it up and have put my old wireless router back into use. This was a waste of money.
Summary: They should dump this product instead of selling as refurbished ! cheap shot from dlink it's quit working after 3 months ! wifi is a disaster ! it's in my garbage bin right now ! no further waste of time NEVER again of buying DLINK products and will tell anybody that I know to stay away from DLINK Products
Summary: worked 6 months, then starting intermittently dropping connection to my wireless devices. DLINK no help in resolving the problem, now I have a router that I can't return to Amazon and that DLINK won't support technically, so technically I don't have a router.
This wireless router has been our worst nightmare.

Summary: The problems we've had with the DIR-657 are apparently due to assigning the same IP to multiple devices. Even after reserving/assigning the IP to each specific device (D-Link version of static IP I presume) in the router settings and upgrading the firmware via the D-Link website, it still keeps happening. Connectivity drops several times a day. Sometimes it's just some of the devices in the house, other times its all of them.
Pros: Well ... it is a wireless router. When it's working it does do what wireless routers are supposed to do I guess ...
Cons: This thing drops connectivity to everything many times on any given day. That is the only consistent thing about it.
Summary: I purchased D-Link because the box said "lets you watch Netflix and Vudu" because of HD Fuel Technology blah blah. Very misleading because the company and my cable company said not so. So......I have a 'tried to hook up D-Link' back in the box wondering what it's good for. I replaced a blu-ray wih a smart blu-ray for 5X as much which accomplished the Netlix thing. I also purchased a high-end wireless router for the wireless capabilities.
Summary: DO NOT BUY!! Check the time/date section, it ends with 2012 (must be a mayan router). Constantly drops connections. Dlink service was awful. If you create a pw longer than approx. 12 chars, it locks you out of the router (hello factory reset). I wasted hours on this.
Summary: I found this router on sale on new egg for $20 plus free shipping. I thought to myself "wow a broadband wifi router with media port and gigabit connection?! Awesome!!!!!" As the saying goes you get what you pay for. I have spent numerous frustrating hours resetting this router playing around with the settings to see what mods I could make to improve the reliability of it to no avail. And good luck getting support from DLINK.
