Summary: I wish I had the same experience with this router as other reviewers here have. It started out great. The setup seemed easy, and I was getting a signal, though a weak one, in areas that I had a hard time getting any signal in. Then, about a half-hour later, I was getting no connection at all. I re-booted the router, still nothing. I then re set up the router using the method I had used initially, but no joy. Finally, I called tech support.
Summary: I had to return it. It constantly dropped the wifi connection and the signal wasn't strong enough to fill my 2 bedroom apartment. After a whole day of going back and forth with dlink's support they finally told me to return it. My amazon seller accepted the return right away.
Summary: We live in a big old 100 year old house. We have plaster walls and 2 stories and many curves. The router is strong but it really needs some extra help. What I'm trying to tell you is don't think it's going to work miracles. We are on our second one a storm got the first one and I decided to try another brand , that didn't work at all. So we bought another D-Link just like we had and we're happy as two larks in their seventies could be.
Not really a big improvement in range from inferior router
14 January 2014
Summary: I had a G router before, came with the cable/internet provider, but was not liking the reception throughout the house. This router, though it looks better and has very usefull features such as DNLA/NAS, did not improve much - if anything - in the reception on the 3rd floor. It also seems to loose internet connection from time to time. A power down and power up takes care of it, but that's far from ideal.
Summary: I probably expected too much from this device. I replace a Linksys Wireless-N router and the difference was minimal. When it said Whole-Home I thought it meant it. I works good though, so I left it, just have a backup Linksys now.
Summary: Even though this has a USB port, I am unable to get my Mac centric network to use a printer plugged into this device. In retrospect I wish I hadn't tried to save money and had gone with another Airport. All the D-Link documentation I found was for Windows printing. No complaints with the wireless signal. The unit feels a bit flimsy in my hand, but this is something you set somewhere and never touch again.
Summary: Bought this because my good old D-Link DIR-655 started dropping wireless connections for several minutes at a time. This cheaper router is not dual band which has not been a problem for me but the range has not been quite as good as the marketing hype might lead you to believe. After using it now for about a month it is doing it's job but the web based interface has some annoying "features".
