Summary: After updating the firmware to the latest version I put this router in action. It performed well at first but severe lag problems started a few weeks later. I noticed the router just hangs for several seconds and it seems to be happening more often.
Pros: Provides good wireless signal strength through walls. Setup is easy with Wizard mode and as complex as you want to get in manual setup mode.
Cons: Disappointing lag/latency when multiple devices connected makes it unusable for gaming and media streaming. Router admin page disconnects you after 4-5 minutes no matter how often you save settings and refresh - annoying!
Summary: The "smart beam" directed wifi technology claim has one major 'gotcha': That is, if your wifi client is within about 15 degrees of the horizontal axis (looking from side to side through the router) the signal is fine, although it seems to lack enough 'umph' to penetrate walls effectively.
Summary: I suppose my one big complaint is that my wireless connectivity is incredibly slow with this router. My wired speeds are great, but any device connected to this router wirelessly chugs at pretty low speed.
Summary: Thing worked fine for the first 3 months, but now it drops connection every day. I rarely get above 10mb even if I'm the only device on the router. I currently get 55mb from my ISP. I would not recommend this router if you have an active family that uses the Web.
Cons: Can't even cover close to my whole home, barely able to connect in the room below it. Anywhere in my house further than 20ft away has become a deadzone. Once again I have had a terrible time with a router from newegg, not that I am implying it is their fault. Besides the weak signal from the rout...
Summary: This router works ok, and performs on-par or worse with any other cheap router, it does not offer any advantages over it's competitors and has poor signal strength, poor coverage/range. I bought it specifically because it was advertized as having very good range and signal strength, but it doesn't.
Pros: It works It is small Installation is easy It looks interesting
Cons: Coverage is poor Signal is weak Product is falsely advertized to be able to cover the whole home. I live in a two bedroom apartment, and this router cant even cover all rooms. All my walls are made from Sheetrock and should be easy to pass through. It did not improve coverage at all over the stoc...
Summary: Bought this is mid-June, 2013. Couldn't try it out til mid-July, after my 30 day return policy was over. Set up was E through my Ipad. But that's where the good news stops. I bought it as a backup to my Buffalo Router which was 100% flawless but single-band.
Pros: Looks nice. Easy to set up.
Cons: Drops internet. Would not read external HDD.
Cons: i bought this to replace a 3 year old DIR-655 hoping to get better HD streaming and better overall wireless performance by using 5GHZ to avoid overlapping with my neighbors. I got neither one. wifi takes forever to connect, has less range and still drops out more than my old 655 even using the ex...
Summary: Why are most routers complete pieces of garbage? Apparently, someday, D-Link will send me a confirmation email concerning my product registration.
Pros: When it is functioning, the wireless signal and range is very strong, as is the wired signal. Worked great for the first month and a half. 2 hard-wired PCs, 4 wireless laptop/PCs, 2 wireless TVs, Roku, iPad, toaster, coffee pot, er... oops. Yeah.
Cons: Constantly drops wireless and wired connections. Resetting the router temporarily fixes this. Temporary fixes suck.
