Summary: I resell D-Link product, and I've watched the quality of their products slide over the years. Sadly. Because they used to be great, and now it's a race for the bottom. Having installed several of these, I've replaced just about all the ones we sold because I wasn't happy and neither were the clients. Firmware updates, re-jiggering settings...this unit is just terribly unreliable.
problems from the beginning should have returned it

Summary: I had problems with this from the beginning. I should have returned it. It was almost impossible to pair it with my DOCSIS 3.0 modem. Was on the phone with customer support for over 2 hours before we got it workable. It worked just enough so so I didn't return it. After a while time got away from me and I couldn't justify sending it back. As soon as I can afford it I am replacing it. Range is not better than a G Wireless. It locks up constantly.
Summary: Purchased this router thought it would be an upgrade from the Belkin router I already had, well it is a huge disappointment! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! IT PROVIDES NO MORE CCOVERAGE OR DISTNCE THAN A STANDARD WIRELESS ROUTER! I HAVE THE SAME "DEAD SPOTS" I HAD BEFORE THERE IS NO IMPROVEMENT. WISH I HAD OPENED IT RIGHT AWAY SO I COULD HAVE SENT IT RIGHT BACK FOR A REFUND. DISAPPOINTING.....ALL THE HYPE IN THE DESCRIPTION AND NONE OF IT IS TRUE OTHER THAN YES IT IS ROUND.
Summary: I live in a 2000sq ft house and this product is described as "Ideal for large homes or small offices where concrete walls, successive floors in multi-storied buildings.....". This router could not reach the downstairs of the house. My 6 year old router that had to be replaced covered the entire house. Horrible technology and even more horribly deceitful marketing. This was the second D-Link modem to be returned due to poor performance.
DO NOT BUY DLINK PRODUCTS, THEIR SUPPORT IS LIKE THE PLAGUE

Summary: I should have followed this advice. I bought 2 DIR-645 routers. One of them is completely unstable. All my devices disconnect often and wireless speed is terrible. I have factory reset, upgraded firmware, set to wireless N only, changed channels, changed cabled, and moved wireless devices to wired. Nothing has helped. I understand it's possible to get a broken product, but I should be able to RMA a broken product within the warranty period.
Summary: This did not solve my problem of poor reception. Customer service is horrible. Difficult to understand the Techs. Had to wait 45 minutes in the queue and when I asked to speak with someone in the USA they said they could not do that. I insisted and was transferred and had a 47 minute wait and got the same foreign speakers again. This happened twice and was cutoff once and never received a call back. I will never ever have anything to do with D-Link again.
Summary: I went through 4 of these routers and none of them worked properly, kept booting me off of my VPN. Called tech support, and they tried to scam me into giving them my credit card number to "fix" the problem which they said was on my computer's settings. Funny how the new Netgear worked no problem........
Summary: The biggest problem with the DIR-645 is the absolutely awful tech support you get. The unit hooked up easily and the software was easy enough .The range was better than my last router ,which failed after the second day which was a D-link 2740, but not spectacular,a fair signal on the second floor.
Summary: I've always used d-Link routers they are much easier to set up than Linksys, but this router was very very inconsistent. Sometimes I'd have wifi and sometimes I wouldn't. After trying to work with it for 5 months I finally gave up on it and bought a Linksys E4200, it works like a dream from minute one. Wifi is now as dependable as a hardwire connection. Also on the in the router it would list my devices 8 or 9 times all with the same IP address, seems weird to me.
