Summary: This router reads very well. It's features are enticing, and if this router worked, it would be THE one to have. Unfortunately, it does not. My wife and I are not new to computers nor networking, we do it for a living.
Summary: I went through 4 of these routers and none of them worked properly, kept booting me off of my VPN. Called tech support, and they tried to scam me into giving them my credit card number to "fix" the problem which they said was on my computer's settings.
Too many firmware bugs. Poor online and phone support. Stay away

Summary: I was replacing a DIR-655 router so am very familiar with D-Link routers. Also I am an IT professional, so it's a little frustrating to have to get through their first line of phone support. It took 49 minutes to get past the first guy who put me on hold multiple times while he "checked" on things.
Summary: The biggest problem with the DIR-645 is the absolutely awful tech support you get. The unit hooked up easily and the software was easy enough .The range was better than my last router ,which failed after the second day which was a D-link 2740, but not spectacular,a fair signal on the second floor.
Summary: Bought this because I needed more range in my house. I only have a 2,000 sqft house and the wifi has a pretty bad range. Its super slow in most of my bedrooms that are only about 50 to 100 feet away.
Summary: I have always used d-link routers. My last router lasted me 3 years before i decided i wanted to upgrade. I bought this because it had everything i was looking for. Ive had it for a little over a year now and have been having issues for about 6 months now. Its wireless power has greatly dropped.

Summary: I have always been a fan of D-Link products and have owned several over the years. I purchased this wireless router in April, 2013. It was connected to a Bright House cable modem, and I had frequent drops from the beginning, which I blamed on the Bright House modem.
Summary: D-Link DIR 836L is not "turn key" as they claim. I spent 5 hours on the phone with various operators since the unit did not work "out of the box" through my Comcast cable IP. First, the page they send you to for set-up is full of acronyms that are their internal language - not general technical...
