Summary: I loved I bought because I could not sign upstairs problem solved! small, cheap and works I recommend to all The other functions have not yet tested it, but I have no interest even needed the signal repeater
Summary: I travel for work a lot, and this gives me a better wireless signal at hotels than the hotel is. Also use to to charge my Smartphone when I am on the road. Used this at the cottage where we do not have wireless to stream content from my USB Drive to my kids IPads.
Summary: I bought this router to be a portable access point when I travel. My wife and I just recently returned from Punta Cana. I paid for 1 wireless computer connection to the internet. When back to our room, plugged in the DIR-505 and had it connected to the access point. I used the supplied username and password and had the DIR-505 use the connection. In the meantime, I connected a tablet and 2 smart phones to the router. I was able to have full internet on all 3 devices.
Summary: Bought this product because I work out of town in locations with internet, but no wireless for my ipad & iphone. Set it up at home the first time in minutes using my ipad, and since then it has been bliss. All you need to do after to connect wirelessly to the internet, is plug it into any internet cable & power outlet, and you are onto great things. It's worth more than the price.
Summary: Although not for the uninitiated, the DIR-505 brings together basically 2 wifi radios, 1 lan port and a usb port. The modes of operation are easily selected via an external switch and once your wifi settings are configured, you don't have to logon to the admin menus unless connecting to another wifi network. Great for the traveller, it keeps all your computers behind a secure wifi network and helps keep prying eyes away.
Summary: Used as a wireless extender to help my transformer prime that has poor wireless. IThe usb port can be used to charge your cell phone. The switch allows the mode to be selected easily, hotspot, access point, or repeater. Since my wireless at home is setup as wireless-n my son uses this to connect wireless-g used by his nds. Should make for a nice quick access point for work meetings too. Thinking I might get one for my son at school...
