Summary: It works great with my Netgear XAVB5004 and two XAVB5602. I looked for a second XAVB5004 for months since I didn't want to fill my router with powerline adapters. I saw a used Netgear XAVB5004 on Amazon for over $300. The D-Link AV 500 was $88, new.
Summary: This switch is unable to get Internet connected even the device is just out from box. I get a replacement from Amazon but the result is the same. There is no trouble shooting procedure included inside the package.
Summary: I'm currently leasing so I couldn't wire the house and hate to use wifi for my ROKU's and Sony Blu-Ray players. Decided to go with the AV 500 and the D-Link PowerLine AV 500 Adapter Kit (DHP-501AV). Very easy to setup and it works without any problems.
D-Link PowerLine AV 500 4-Port Gigabit Switch (DHP-540)
2 October 2013
Summary: Have had this now for several months. It has performed without issue. Have noticed that at certain times of the day, the connection quality LED will go to red, not sure what is causing this, but I have not had any issues when using it during that time.
Summary: This works really well I was worried as my home has old wiring The source that feeds this is on a very different circuit and I have several 'noisy' devices along the way- freezer, a washing machine, and a furnace pump. I get consistent green-light speeds indicating more than 80 Mbps speed.
Summary: These devices are the best kept secret in tech! I use one of these in my entertainment center (PS3, NAS, Apple TV, Sling Box). Head & Shoulders better network throughput than WiFi. If you have many WiFi devices in use (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.
Summary: I've now got four D-Link PowerLinke AV 500 connections in my house - I had tried many different 802.11n routers and bridges, but those connections were always slow and unreliable for me. The powerline connections are great. Each is very steady and typically holds a 150-250 Mb rate.
Summary: I purchased this along with the D-Link powerline AV500 to hook up my entertainment center (PS3, PS4, Xbox and Computer) works great, though every once in a while for the PS3 I will have to cycle the power to re-establish a connection.
Summary: It works as advertised, but it is difficult to install using the instructions provided. The cd for installation was used to finally complete the installation after about 5 tries with the "simplified" instructions! It is really fast compared to previous connections.
Summary: Contacted customer service tonight to assist with my set-up. In no time Carlos (agent #AR004279) had me up and running! Extremely professional and spoke at a level I could understand. Thank you Carlos!
