Excerpt: This product (and all the D-Link power line adapters) will only work for outlets on the same electrical circuit in your home. I'm not sure why they don't tell you that. How many homes have all the outlets on the same circuit? My guess is none that are built to code. If you're thinking you're going to create a whole house network with this product, think again. You're not. I verified this after waiting 1/2 hour on hold for D-Link tech support.
Excerpt: Needed networking from office upstairs on 2nd level down to basement and wifi signal was sketchy even with a repeater. Don't expect to get 500 Mbits from end to end, but hopefully it should be decent throughput depending on your wiring. It doesn't work on power strips for some reason. I installed the software on a laptop and after setting up the devices to talk to each other, I went into the target rooms and checked signal to different outlets.
Pros: Easily Expanded, Easy To Set Up, Secure, Software Is Helpful
Excerpt: I bought two of these PowerLine Switches to replace WiFi extender in our apartment which wasn't working very well due to wide concrete walls. I had no problem making connection between the switches, but with the 'remote' switch plugged the 1st power point I tried, the network speed was quite low (red LED was on - best speed is green LED), as this power point was on another circuit breaker.
