Summary: I purchased this unit to use with my Dlink DI-524 wireless router and hope it could increase the signal strenth my laptop received when I used the laptop at the upstair bedroom. Unfortunately it didn't help, maybe it was dued to the house layout or my neighborhood's interference but for the price I paid it was worth a try.
Summary: It didn't perform miracles within our home, but it certainly helped with signal strength and connection reliability --- that's all I needed to help with one challenging location for a remote laptop. No more dropped connections and a higher signal strength, and couldn't be easier to install.
Summary: Maybe someone will figure out why this unit only works for some people. I tried it with the supplied cable and directly connected to my Dlink DI-512 wireless router. Either way it made no difference in signal strength. I started out at 25% in my back room with the built-in antenna and it was the same with the external antenna. There were a few places in my home where the signal was less using the big antenna.
Summary: I purchased this to connect to a D-link PCI card plugged into my PC. My Thinkpad has an excellent signal at this location but even with this antenna my desktop would not get better than a poor siginal. Same as with the standard antenna that came with the PCI card. Maybe this antenna works okay for other people but it did nothing in my setup.
Summary: This antenna does not meet the expectations I had from the advertisement of the product. I did pick up about 15% on signal strength two rooms away. But the range outside of the house failed to reach any further than the 4db antenna I replaced. It may work well for others, but for my needs it doesn't do the job.
