Summary: This review is for the 8-port model (DGS-1100-08). I have two of these. Both have the same problems. It works most of the time as a switch. But the web interface often becomes unresponsive after a day or two of operation. Won't respond to pings, either. (Best guess is the daemons crash due to a memory leak). Requires a power-cycle to get the configuration interface running again. Sometimes the entire switch locks-up.
Summary: If you need a switch that can handle VoIP phones. This is the switch to buy. You can manage it or simply plug and play. I was having issue with my VoIP phone at home and after switching to this switch the call quality are much better and no drop calls.
Summary: If you are like me and create DNS entries for your internal network devices you will run into an issue with this device in that the login screen will loop over and over when using the DNS name. I created a DNS entry for this device using a DNS name like dlink.int.example.com to point to 192.168.1.254. After configuring the switch to have IP address 192.168.1.254 I then attempted to access the switch using dlink.int.example.com.
Excellent value for a managed switch. Compact and reliable.

Summary: Needed a managed switch as i needed to make my Linux box with a single ethenet port my router. With a managed switch and VLANs this is easily possible. Plus 8 ports at gigabit speed makes this a no brainer. Most commercial routers have 4 ports + 1 wan port and have low power CPU's. I needed to use a couple of VPN's and noticed that the encryption overhead was taxing my [name witheld] off the shelf router, so i decided to turn my trusty Linux box into a router.
Summary: I used this to create two VLANs, one for my LAN (inside my router) and other for my WAN (outside my router). That way I can change the VLAN my PC is on if I want to test my Internet directly without having to change around cables. I just have to configure that from a secondary PC but that is expected (otherwise you'll lose connection to the switch). VLAN was the feature I was looking for but it has lots of other features as well. It's a great product.
Summary: I got this to use the Dual Gigabit Port on this to Hook up to my Qnap Server. I haven't had a chance to delve into its menus or anything yet. I can tell you it worked straight out of the box after plugging it into my network. No Complaints as it still seems to be working after a couple months now.
