Works ok, but LED's are decieving.

Rawze, Amazon
15 April 2015
  • Summary: If you have this thing in a closet somewhere, and don't care about the lights on the front, then this is ok, but I have it on my desk, and like to see what machines are heavily using traffic, and what machines are not. It works very well for traffic, but the L.E.D.

Bigger than necessary, but works great

Robert E. Henkin "Nuc Doc", Amazon
23 August 2014
  • Summary: My router went out and I needed a multi-port router replacement. This one fills the bill nicely. It adapted itself to my network and it is happy as a clam as is my network. My only complaint might be size.

Works, but documentation is lacking

Mainsil, Amazon
27 July 2013
  • Summary: Had the product for only a day so durability is not part of my rating. Setup is pretty easy, just plug in your cables, and plug it in. It appears to be fanless (at least I can't hear a fan), and the power supply is internal (no brick). Speeds are Gigabit range from my informal file transfer tests.

Basic 10/100 switch

Nate, Amazon
9 April 2013
  • Summary: If there had been the wall space, I would have been able to mount this by turning the rack mount ears 90 degrees and using them to screw it down to the ply. Unfortunately, there wasn't... but that's no fault of the switch. It serves a basic function, and what more can you ask of a 10/100 switch?

Quiet, Low power consumption

Anonymous, Newegg
22 September 2011
  • Pros: Gets full 1000 Mbps throughput Doesn't draw much power at all if you are only using a few ports Rack mount ears are convenient, but can sit on a shelf etc. Integrated power supply, no wall wart to deal with
  • Cons: The lights on the front are laid out a bit odd

Good

Chris, Amazon
20 June 2010
  • Summary: I bought a pair of these switches for my younger brother so he could host a LAN party. They were hooked up to a D-Link DGL-4500 gigabit router; 2 dedicated servers we had were hooked up to a D-Link DGS-2208 gigabit switch off the router (with a few Xboxes), and all of the guests computers were...

Noisy, but works great

Anonymous, Newegg
12 March 2010
  • Summary: Other than the noise, switch works great, and is decent sized.
  • Pros: Very nice working. Not much you can really say, plug in power, plug in Cat5's, and off you go.
  • Cons: A bit noisy. Had problems with client finding a decent place to put switch due to noisy fan.

When your home network grows too big

klin, Amazon
26 February 2009
  • Summary: When my home network got too big, I decided to wall mount a Cat6 patch panel and 1gb router (see my other reviews). This has been working without problems since I installed it in my home network September 2008.

Fast but with fan noise

Anonymous, Newegg
5 February 2009
  • Summary: It has a standard PC power cord and the Power Supply is internal... This means a fan. If you want this as a SOHO switch, think about the constant fan noise in that room. Think about a small bathroom vent fan, almost as loud. The smaller D-Link 8 port Green one is silent.
  • Pros: Fast, Clean, and decent indicator lights.
  • Cons: Noise (otherwise I'd give it 5 eggs)
