Summary: Of the 8 ports, one port does not function. The one port, next to the power plug, one shown on a connection diagram to be used to connect to router, failed to work. Caused confusion on installation until I realized that the port does not function. When connected using other port works fine. Except now it is not an 8 but 7 port switch.
Summary: If you want the cables to come out the back with the lights on the top, this is a perfect unit. If you want the cable in the front, with the lights in the front, then I recommend the Netgear. I own both depending on the location's demands.
One of the best buys I have made. This network switch is very good!

Summary: In short, this product seems to be better designed than prior iterations. The switch itself does not gets hot. The AC to DC converter is very small and does not gets hot. How will you know your are buying the new DGS-1008G? Simple: The top of the switch is not flat, is curved. I definitely recommend this switch to you. The reason to give it 4 stars out of 5 is because of its curved top.
Summary: Going from a NetGear to this was like moving from Detroit to the Swiss Alps. Nice and small, yet great build quality. Internet performance is more solid than with other switches I've tried over the years. One huge plus is, it doesn't get hot like the others. Good job D-Link another top-notch product.
