Summary: Dlink used to be crappy gear. Unreliable, poorly designed, squealing, and quick to fail. I would not hesitate to recommend this switch or any other Dlink product to any home or small office user. I have several of these switches in use, and have NEVER had one fail, or squeal, or be in any way unreliable. Plus they're priced right. Best gear for the money.
Summary: If you have devices that can actually use this amount of speed then its def worth the price. I had a few GB speed devices on the network at home and wanted something to help them achieve their full potential. Boom. There comes the new switch. I had to switch my cables to CAT6 since CAT5e doesn't quite allow for the GB speed but that was pretty cheap too (check monoprice.com). Totally worth it.
Summary: I wired every room in my house with cat 5e, but was having problems with my internet dropping connection. At first I thought my NIC in my laptop was going bad, until another computer started having the same problems. I replaced a Xyzel gigabit switch with this D-Link 16 gigabit switch, and now my internet stays connected in my office. I am thrilled! This switch provides a dedicated 1-2 gb/s for each port.
Summary: My home network is mainly dlink components. I recently needed to add a switch and selected the 8 port giga dlink switch. This has proven to be easy, fast and reliable. Very pleased with the performance I am getting through the switch. I have a combination of VOIP, video (HD), and other standard traffic going through this device and it handles it fine. Strongly recommend dlink products. -JohnN Choose, bid and save! Join the fun at [...]!
Summary: Plug and play is the only way to put this switch. I have been using this with U-Verse since sep 2011 with zero issues. Green = Gig Yellow = 100 8/13 2012- My goodness do I love this device, I have seen transfers between my two computers start around 192 MB/s and ending above 110 (I believe 125 MB/s is theoretical top speed. I would like to add my network is varied between 10/100(xbox, tv, uverse router, apple tv and cable box) and 1Gig (media pc and desktop machine).
Summary: Just bought and set this up a couple days ago. It just works! I plugged all my computers (four of them) into this switcher and then had to hunt up a cable to go from the switcher to my router. Lo and behold, it can use either a straight-thru or a crossover cable....which means I didn't even have to think at all, I just grabbed a cable out of my left-overs box and it worked! And the router-to-switcher cable can be plugged into any of the 8 identical ports..
Summary: I bought this switch to add several computers to my home network. These additional computers will just be folding for the Stanford University Folding@Home distributed computing project, so I wanted to turn off the wireless cards and add them to the wired network. This switch works great! It was truly plug-and-play. I set up the additional computers and had them networked in about 10 min. I paid $35 from Amazon, which is $10 cheaper than my local Fry's.
