  • Pros: Its a really nice switch for the price.
  • Cons: I took off one point because it doesn't come with the normal D-link feet for vertical mounting.

Great bang for buck!

Anonymous, Newegg
10 December 2005
  • Summary: I am trying to get us on THIS router. They hear cheap very well and ask fo rit by name, but always wait to buy cisco. So we are on 10/100!!!...until that is under $200. By then Dlink will have 4G fiber!
  • Pros: Ok, there may be better transfer rates, but unless you are on a coperate LAN with MANY MANY people doing big transfers this a GREAT soulition! Hey, and even on the corporate level, our local workgroup (DV editors)
  • Cons: None in a year.

Open eyes

John C., Newegg
20 May 2004
  • Summary: Codedot ran into the same "gothca" that I did when I bought a DGS-1008D. The PCI bus runs at 33MHz. So, a 32-bit PCI card is maxing out the bus around 100Mbs. In other words, if the gigabit NIC isn't built into the MB, you're chokepoint is the PCI-bus. Same with RAID controllers.

User Review

steven j., Newegg
11 April 2004
  • Summary: Careful with this one. It doesn't support "jumbo packets", which is a powerful tweak for gigabit networks. Yes you'll get much better speeds even without jumbo packets, but your're losing 'at least' 33% of speed under certain circumstances.

Buy a plug adapter as well

Richard Cosgrove, Amazon
26 September 2015
  • Summary: This switch seems to have improved my home network's connections. However, you need to buy a European-to-British mains plug adapter for it, as its power pack comes with a European plug.

Does what it says on the tin

Wadam, Amazon
21 June 2010
  • Summary: Works fine. Gigabit all the way. Tip, make sure the cables are pre-rimped or be very precise with the RJ-45 ends or you'll not get Gigabit.
