faile but lifetime warrantee replaced no hassle

Dennis P., Newegg
14 January 2011
  • Summary: This one is now our "backUP". With 3 24port POE noisy switches running, one needs a boxed backup for the inevitable failure. whether 10 months or X years.
  • Pros: Works for awhile (10 months). Warantee replacement was handled without a question or a hassle. It's a "lifetime warantee" which is certainly lots and they did ship a new one.
  • Cons: None other than you need a backup for when this goes out and you are exchanging under warantee.

M. Dettmer, Amazon
22 April 2010
  • Summary: Im on my sencond switch already. The first one died abount 6-8 months after I got it. I RMA'd the device. Got a second one from Dlink. It just died on me 2 weeks ago. About 6 month life span. This PoE Switch is the worst i've seen. Noisy beyond belief and they crash after 6 months.

awesome switch

Pete K., Newegg
16 March 2010
  • Pros: I don't know what everyone is complaining about. This will be the 4th switch I've added to my hotel property with a total of 32 DWL-3140AP's. The latest firmware is definitely required to avoid the xmas tree syndrome other posters are talking about.
  • Cons: Tech support, you guys are the worst. Seriously, I will never call DLink support again. Yes, it is based in the country that rhymes with Lidia, but they wouldn't even talk to me about the last switch I bought because they saw I had purchased the previous three switches over a year ago and flat ou...

Do you feel lucky?

Darrick H., Newegg
18 February 2010
  • Summary: Buy a Netgear or Linksys (Cisco for Small Business) instead. Sure any electronic device can fail, but these are either poorly designed or have cheap components which are prone to failure. Stay away!
  • Pros: When they work, these are nice switches. All features work as advertised, again, when the switch works.
  • Cons: HIGH rate of failure! This model seriously should be part of a class-action law suit. 3 of 4 purchased were RMA'd within 6 months. One unit was replaced multiple times. Replaced units worked for varying periods of time.

DONT BUY!!! THESE FAIL!

Grover T., Newegg
25 June 2009
  • Summary: VERY VERY BAD! When it fails, all the lights on the front come on. (no, I'm not repeating other reviewers, I know from experience.) I'm about to RMA a second one of these...
  • Pros: Works for ~6 months. PoE on lots of ports.
  • Cons: Where to begin? These are EXTREMELY loud. The fans are insane. We had our first fail in about 6 months of ownership and the second just failed about 6 months later
