Half a Decade and Counting

Lantana T., Newegg
4 April 2015
  • Summary: It's time to upgrade to gigabit, so D-Link's next model up will join this switch in the rack.
  • Pros: For more than 6 years, this rackmount switch has done it's job. Full 100Mb speeds with silent operation. All kinds of devices, such as desktops, laptops, game consoles, and set-top boxes, have all worked flawlessly.
  • Cons: It is not manageable. But that's not expected at this price point.

purchased 8/2005

Eric L., Newegg
11 November 2014
  • Summary: If it died today I couldn't complain.
  • Pros: Over 9 Years old and still going strong. Powered up on day one and has only been off during power outages and once while the room was repainted.
  • Cons: Hard to justify buying a new model with this one still working.

Bad Warranty Policy

Alan E., Newegg
25 March 2014
  • Summary: I won't be purchasing D-link products again!
  • Pros: Worked for a while...
  • Cons: Two of these switches died within the warranty period. Same problem. Could be a defective design in the power supply. To get them covered under the warranty was a hassle! After many long calls I finally got the RMA Numbers. When I got the documentation, they wanted the Manuals, Power cords, CD an...

Longterm reliability issues

David G., Newegg
27 November 2012
  • Summary: Kept three eggs simply because of initial bang-for-buck For our store locations I've started buying Netgear FS726T 24+2 switches. For an extra $50 per switch I hope to get a lot more life out of them, and in the meantime benefit from the extra 2 ports and some web-management features.
  • Pros: Great price for a 24 port switch. Initial quality is good.
  • Cons: - Reliability after 2+ years. These switches don't seem to age very well. I've had several die outright and others cause problems on the network that are hard to diagnose, such as users of computers plugged into a bank of 8 ports complaining of extreme slowness while other users on the same switc...
