Pros: We used this switch to replace an old 3com 8 port hub. The immediatey performance gains made it feel like we went from dial up to Fiber optic. Highly recommended to boost the speed of your network.
Cons: Not quite sure we like the placement of the connections in the front of the unit. Would like to see more indicator leds.
Summary: This is not a managed or monitorable (is that a word?) switch, if you are looking to install into a high usage network or a for a LAN party, search Newegg for more advanced switches that allow you to control traffic more tightly.
Pros: No config, no fuss. Put it into your wiring closet and plug your patch panel in. Or use it as-is directly off your main WAN Firewall/Router. For "small business" or "large home" 100TX networks this will do the job painlessly. Runs cool with no moving parts (read: fans) to wear out. Duplexed speed...
Pros: Up and running in minutes. Unpack, plug in power, plug in cables, done. Quiet switch, rack mount hardware if you wish to mount in a rack. Noticible difference in network speed when replacing hubs w/ the switch.
