Worst piece of junk ever.

Nicholas Ellis, Amazon
17 August 2014
  • Summary: I have run my own IT business for over 9 years now, and been in IT for 20. This router is perhaps the biggest piece of garbage I've ever used. It is riddled with flaws and oddities. I spent 10 hours yesterday trouble shooting why the stupid thing wouldn't obey ANY QOS settings.

Cisco RVS4000 Router

Judy, Amazon
26 April 2011
  • Summary: This router is just what our office needed for our computer networking. It was easy to install and works well. The exact same router was advertised at Staples for $45.00 more. This was a good purchase for us.

Stay Away

Krod, Amazon
11 March 2011
  • Summary: I bought this router because of the "Business Class" classification and for the Cisco name. I've always had good luck with their routhers in the past. This router is a piece of junk. I got it and it dropped my internet connection several times a day.

Nothing works on this.

Joe Braun, Amazon
5 January 2011
  • Summary: I had such hopes for this router. I was replacing a 7 year old linksys. I liked the fact that it had a VPN server. This is something I have wanted for some time and the main reason I bought it. It only worked if I set it up as a basic router.

Why all the complaints? This has been rock solid for our business

Mike Jones, Amazon
23 November 2010
  • Summary: Before I bought this I was using a Linksys BEFSR81 (very solid for a long time) that was starting to go out. I decided to get the RVS4000 to replace it even though I was very skeptical givin all the bad reviews it had. I didn't see very many other good options so I decided to give this a go.

CSCO RVS4000 4-port Gigabit security router

ken_, Amazon
19 November 2010
  • Summary: This router is easy to set up with browser based graphical user interface. Firewall is commercial grade, though it will reduce throughput when enabled. But that's the price we pay for security.

Excellent - if you don't use VPN tunnels

Louis M. Ray, Amazon
4 May 2010
  • Summary: I bought this router/firewall about ten months ago to replace an older SMC Barricade that was becoming unreliable. For the most part I have been pleased with it, it has a decent firewall/IDS, VLAN routing, good DHCP configurability and purports to have VPN support.

Still doesn't work!

Manuel Olmedo "Megamoose54", Amazon
31 January 2010
  • Summary: I thought all the negative comments had by now been addressed by firmware updates. On 1/30/2010, out of the box, the RVS4000 is still erratic in behavior. It works for a few minutes, then stops responding. Turning off IPS feature extended its operation to hours, but still would require reboots.

Excellent

James G. Robertson, Amazon
30 January 2010
  • Summary: This is an excellent router for my home office environment. I have 5 computers (two other switches & wireless access point), two printers, and a VOIP phone on it connected to the internet through DSL. It has an excellent firewall that can be configured to download signatures.
