Good

K. Reynolds, Amazon

  • Summary: Be aware that the documentation on the N300 Open is awful. All of the documentation is built into the UI of the router, so it's readily accessible, but it's not very verbose and it seems like about a third of the terminology doesn't actually match up with what is presented in the UI.

If you're wanting a good router for gaming then you'll want a higher end Buffalo router like the AC1750

NWGAbuyer, Amazon
2 June 2015
  • Summary: I probably shouldn't even review this piece as I never got to install it. After my purchase I found out that I should have invested in the AC-1750 with the 1GB capability. I have 2 friends that are independent IT technicians and both said this a great unit for a household with few devices.

Wonderful, great, awesome.

Chris, Amazon
28 April 2015
  • Summary: Wonderful, great, awesome. Plug and play it's all preconfigured and ready to go, or reconfigure with more features than any other router with it's DD-WRT software. Plenty of range with strong signal, and wirelessly streams Netflix without any hitches in high definition.

Not Ideal

BEN HILL, Amazon
23 April 2015
  • Summary: I thought it would the ideal router for a simple task. I tried to perform some simple modifications and it would not let that happen. I also found out that there's not support for this model router by Buffalo (new or used). I highly suggest finding an alternative product to suit your needs.

For me, a wireless router that works without dropping

J. Nornberg, Amazon
22 April 2015
  • Summary: Previously had a Netgear and a Belkin N600 dual band router in my house. For some odd reason every now and then I would not be able to connect to my wifi. So I went through the normal procedure, unplugged router and cable modem, wait couple minutes, plug cable modem, wait, then go plug in wifi...

Perfect and dead easy for what I wanted to use it for.

Hollyecho Montgomery "Hollyecho Montgomery", Amazon
25 February 2015
  • Summary: I got this router for one reason and one reason only. It is to be an access point with ports, connected to the main modem/router from the office 300 feet away. The EXTREMELY easy with switch in back for bridge mode made this perfect, so perfect in fact that I installed it that way in my daughters...

Good features, good price, better performers available if you need that

Aaron, Amazon
14 February 2015
  • Summary: Good features, good price for the features including ability to have two wireless access points, one for guests with internet only. Of note this does not have lights for each ethernet port. It is only 100mbit.

DD-WRT flexibility and works great!

28 January 2015
  • Summary: I work with computers and generally dislike the limited proprietary firmwares that come with many routers. I had heard of Buffalo before but not worked with them, so I gave this one a shot.

Pretty good DD-WRT router for the price.

dennyandcarrie, Amazon
26 January 2015
  • Summary: I got this router because it came pre-installed with DD-WRT open source software. I have put DD-WRT on routers before, however, this time I got lazy and just bought one with it pre-installed. I need some special settings in a small network I run, and DD-WRT lets me do what I need to do.
