Summary: I was looking for a router with the following: 1. Dual band to make sure old adapters work fine and new n-devices gets the maximum speed. 2. A USB port for sharing some storage. 3. Some parental control to make sure kids do not access network always. I got all these in this device and this was the cheapest I could find. I wish it supported IP reservation as well, but I can live with it. So far very happy with the device. EDIT: I figured how to simulate IP reservation!.
Summary: Bought a new Belkin F7D8302 Play N600 Wireless Dual-Band N Router. Following the instructions I ran the CD and at the end of the setup the screen said "please give Belkin a call, and we can give you a hand". The phone number was in large print and there was a button on the bottom that said try again. I called for help and was told that I would have to pay $20.00 for support or I could go to their website for help. Ah...
Summary: I recently bought this router and called Belkin for help in setting it up. I was frostily informed that Belkin does not provide support for the N600. This despite the warranty information shown on the box, there is no support. The thing works fine if you can install it yourself, but don't expect help from Belkin.
Summary: POS sent it back got full refund, Belkin only wants to make more money, recording at beginning of phone call said I had 6 mos of FREE tech support, but they wouldn't even troubleshoot it without me paying $79.99 for a 2-yr contract! the router was junk rite out of the box and wouldn't work after several hours of adjusting settings and resets....will NEVER buy another Belkin product...if I could give it no stars I would...
Summary: I bought this product to replace my existing router. I didn't learn until after I received the product that support for product no longer existed. If I wanted tech support, it would cost $100, more than the cost of the router. Of course, router didn't work. I returned the product, but it was a pain in the butt.
Summary: Belkin is more interested in selling a service contract than providing a product that works out of the box or giving real support. My router started up without a problem but as reported in other reviews dropped service intermitently after a few days. Trying to reach them through the Belkin.com for support is almost impossible. The phone number for support is not for unit purchased throught Amazon; they will sell you a service and then fix the problem "easily".
Summary: I am a network technician and the only thing that gave me gratification is when I SMASHED this POS router with a hammer and replaced it with a router that was half the cost. I enjoyed smashing this crappy router because it would drop wireless, it would drop the internet, it would never reconnect unless i sat there for 20 minutes holding its hand. All I can say is if you want a router that sucks that you can smash, this is your router.
Summary: The software on the supplied CD did not work on my old XP machine, if you have problems watch out for a site that looks like but is not a Belkin Support site, they will give you a line of bull about your computer having malware and then try to get you to pay for them to clean it up so that it will work. The real Belkin site has updated software that works and you don't even need software to set it up.
