Summary: I tend to travel to hotels and other places and occasionally I'd get into a place where it offers a wifi service instead of Ethernet wall connection. I prefer the latter since I am sure I'd get the best possible signal through my Apple Air Extreme router in the room. However, with free wifi only, I'd be at the mercy of where the hotel room is or how strong that signal is?
Summary: Some reviewers say that the router doesn't work with captive portals, but that may be due to the firmware version they were using. I'm staying at the Courtyard Norfolk Downtown in Norfolk Virginia. The hotel has a captive portal for free wifi. With firmware 18.104.22.168 I wasn't able to connect to the captive portal in Hotspot (Wifi Account Sharing) mode. I upgraded to firmware 22.214.171.124 and the router connected to the captive portal without problems. It has some quirks: 1.
Summary: this is one of the best purchases i have ever made and i have bought a few since. My entire department now carries these wherever we go(IT Support Field) and use them in a variety of ways. highly recommend to anyone who deals with computers on a daily basis. (other uses not listed, wireless print server(with network printer), wireless gaming adapter, wireless device/router/switch management.
Set up in under 5 minutes for 3 devices sharing a hotel wire.

Summary: Just picked up one of the ASUS WL-330N3G devices in Singapore for about $80 USD. I needed to have a Ethernet/Wireless bridge to connect my Mac Book Pro/Iphone4 and new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 devices. In under 5 minutes I had this thing setup and all 3 devices online. I also found it very simple (again, in the first 5 minutes) to have the router mode (ie. hotel wired connection sharing) with secured WPA2 Wifi, admin stuff changed, time sync and the like.

Summary: As a frequent traveler I use this mini-router in hotels and on planes. Some hotels require login pages to access wifi, which is fine for PC, but sometimes phones, tablets, and gaming devices cannot reach the hotel's login page. With this mini-router I use my PC to connect hotel wifi, then connect phones, tablets, and gaming devices through the router. Everything is then on hotel internet. Easy to set up. This also can save you $$$.
Summary: I've been buying these for years. The models changed a little overtime but they're really good for my needs. In our production facility we print bar codes for cases and pallets and the wireless network card for those printers each costs almost $200. I use these instead with the built in network card on the printers and the employees can move the printers around the warehouse freely between any of the production lines they're working on.
Summary: I was looking for a good small portable wireless router and after looking around, I had narrowed it down to three different brands. I decided to go with the Asus simply because I have had excellent results with their routers and with already setting up a half dozen or so without ever having to go back to make any changes-- it was only logical. In fact I just had to cycle the power on one because we had the power blip and the modem became, well, confused.
Summary: This little ASUS wireless "do everything" box is amazing. It does everything it says it can do, and with a very, very easy browser-based graphical user interface (GUI). I've purchased portable router/AP/NA/repeaters in the past which required arcane and painful static IP configuration, but this little guy is extremely easy to set up and configure.
