Excerpt: Bought to replace a similar D-Link router that started giving me problems (unable to resolve DNS names, requiring reset every day or two). Abt price matched a price I found elsewhere and it arrived quickly and well-packed. This was a straightforward plug and play installation. I used the same SSID name as my old one, so everything just works the same. I have not noticed any speed increase or better range/connection strength, but I have not really tested it.
Rich feature set, great Wifi coverage, recommend that you buy it.

Summary: This is a great router for the price. While it doesn't support dd-wrt , it comes with a good interface and a nice set of features such as vpn, free dynamic dns service, QoS, port mapping, dual band wifi, dhcp, and more. Asus continues to update the firmware to keep it current, and some of the additional features such as bitternent client and usb drive sharing over the network have come in handy. The Wifi conerage is nice as well. I highly recommend this router.
Summary: I saw this page and was surprised by all of the negative feedback for this router. The only thing I can think of is that the other reviews are of the router with older firmware, which was not very good at all, or people expecting a simple plug-and-play black box. This router is not that.
Pros: Fast, great features, true dual band
Cons: Need latest firmware update for it to work well
Summary: We are a digital household with many wireless devices (actually 15 devices). We need a fast and powerful WIFI that can handle the load. Our home is large and as a result we also use a 2.4 GHz Access Point. Between the two devices we have full power over more than one acre of land around our home and even much further in some areas. I love the dual band WIFI of the ASUS RT-N56U. We use select devices on the 5 GHz band for faster data transfer.
Excerpt: I use this product to connect smart phones and laptops to the internet. I also use it to stream audio from the laptop to a networked receiver. I tried it with the Wi-Fi router provided by the cable company and the audio dropped every few minutes. Now it's hours of music throughout the house with no drops!
