Summary: I purchased this to replace an aged router having issues, and we couldn't be happier with the product. Asus has always put out quality products and I would highly advise you if you're looking for a solid router with features found in higher priced models, this is it.
Pros: Excellent Build Quality, Feature Rich, Excellent Wireless/wired connectivity, ease of Use and Setup
If you do not mind to pay premium price, I can recommend buying it.

Summary: I have replaced my Netgear N600 Dual Band router with the Asus RT-A66U. The Netgear is a good router but I did experience problems several times, which required resetting the router. The ASUS is stable, strong and at least one notch stronger signal carrier. It is not too hot (it is continuously on since I did buy it several months ago) and I need to mention that I am using the stand-up bracket, which provides better cooling.
Summary: so this one is a bit of a mixed review. I purchased this from a local store as i needed a new router urgently, i had been eyeing up this router for a long time and even purchased a wireless AC PCI-e NIC for my desktop in anticipation of getting this particular router. when i got it home and set it up i was blown away by the speeds and range that this router was able to achieve, all devices experienced a significant increase in bandwidth (our old router was only achieving...
Summary: No there is not any build that fixes it so don't waste your time. The firewall scripts works fine. The problem is really with half-bridge modems that assign the router a public IP but send DHCP from their private LAN IP which is outside of the WAN subnet. The firewall prevents the lease from being renewed since the replies are coming from a different subnet than the WAN IP is in.
Pros: Its fancy
Cons: There are quite a few people who experience dropped connections on a 10-15 minute basis with many of these new high end routers. Poster Phuzion at DD-WRT forum had this to say:
Summary: I am not an advanced tech person, but I have run Mac computers since OSX came out. Bought this router to replace Cisco because kept dropping connection with latest OS upgrade. The 5 gig signal of ASUS does not travel as far as I hoped and drops. stay on 2.4 and all is well. A person who knows what they are doing might be able to fix this as this router seems maybe more capable than I am.
