Excerpt: Used for a home-use network with a various wi-fi devices. The router is fast and easy to setup, however the only issue I have is it takes longer for our laptops to connect than with our older router. It sometimes takes about 30-60 seconds instead of 3 or 4 seconds.
Summary: Asus updated the firmware once previously, attempting to fix the problem, but dropped the ball. The exploit persisted. I am skittish to continue using Asus AiCloud until I learn that the exploit is resolved this time.
Pros: It's a good router, and based on the hardware, I'd highly recommend it. Mine was bought as a Black Friday 2012 item and has been pretty solid for well over a year.
Cons: The firmware has a critical vulnerability that allows anybody with an internet connection to hack into attached USB drives. Look up an Arstechnica article titled: "Dear Asus router user: You’ve been pwned, thanks to easily exploited flaw" for more info. Firmware below 30043744422 has this vulnerability.
Summary: I got this router expecting the best thing since slice bread but was disappointed by the lack of some features. 1) You can't edit the label of the device connected to the router so you can't easily identify the devices connected to your network 2) Currently there's an issue with this router in which when a ps3 or ps4 connect to it, there will be an error that states "The router in use may not support IP fragments, and the communication features of some games may be...
Excerpt: The router is packed with features. Mostly not needed for average home users. I have a lot of interfere at 2.4 band, I expect this router to perform better since it's almost 10 times more expensive than my previous routers. The result is NO. I couldn't see much improvement in the 2.4 GHz band. The 5Ghz band has no issue as no one is using 5Ghz around me. Simply increasing TX power didn't help. Turning on the anti-interference feature didn't help much either.
Summary: I was trying to upgrade from my Dlink Extreme Dir-655. I just didnot get any real world performance increase. I was hoping to improve stream HD video just one floor above my router location and I didnot get any real performance increase. Also the 5.o band doesnot reach very far in my house. I did like the IU, but the setup options are for advanced users. This router is well made, but for the price its just not worth it for me.
Summary: As the title says, most of the features of this router work as advertised. The AiDisk remote access feature, however, is not ready for release yet. I have never been able to connect via the internet using my iPhone and the AiCloud app. I spent 3 or 4 days trying everything I could think of including uninstall and reinstall of the app and reset and reconfig of the router. Nothing works. I would not recommend this router if you plan to use the remote access feature.
Excerpt: I bought this router for wifi - video streamlining purposes on a tv and computer networking at a max 30-40 ft away from the router. It can't do that in a reliable fashion. The 5 GHz band is totally useless unless the router is very close to the destination device. The 2.4 Gz band is a bit better but still far inferior to the specification which claims the useful coverage to be within the 450 ft range.
The coverage is a little better- but doesn't rank as better than middle of the pack

Summary: If your are running a new machine without a cd player, then it is extraordinarily difficult to get it to work. It is possible, butyou have to wade through a lot of nonsense and tech support's slow and initially inadequate responses. The coverage is a little better- but doesn't rank as better than middle of the pack, particularly for the price.
Summary: Great piece of kit, super fast and lots of capabilites, HOWEVER DO NOT BUY FROM THE AMAZON MARKETPLACE!! The router I have experienced an ethernet port failure and needs to be returned for repair under the 2 year warranty. But as the Amazon seller I purchased from is in Spain and I live in the UK I have to pay to return it to reseller. ASUS UK refuse to repair under warranty and state the warranty is only valid in the country of the resller and Amazon refuse to help!
