Won't stream Netflix consistently and ASUS doesn't seem to know how to fix it!!

Summary: First off, I really wanted this router to work for us. It has great options and is very configurable. I also am not a novice in this area. One of the main uses in our household for our network is streaming Netflix. Our old Belkin router does this just fine, as well as a brand new DLink that we purchased from Samsclub (as a backup to the RT-AC56U).
Summary: I had high hopes for this and all it did was let me down. Someone I know has an ASUS router and he loves it. Based on the number of 5-star reviews opted to disregard all of the 1-star reviews... that was a mistake. This router did exactly what the majority of the 1-star reviews claimed. Day 1: Set up was a breeze... super easy, and very fast. Router worked perfectly for the first week or so. Week 2: Started have serious bandwidth issues on the 2.4g band.
I am afraid that Asus has down something bad with their ac implementation

Summary: Doesn't work well with Macs at all. Even if you think it works well with your Mac I would open up Wireshark and inspect the packets first. There are many lost packets and as a result many packets become duplicated. Asus does not have 24/7 support so I have not yet been able to contact them about this issue, but unless I am talking to one of their engineers or top tier support members then I doubt a resolution will be in the works any time soon.

Summary: I was blown out of the water how fast this thing was. AC is a huge jump over N especially on 5GHz. Range is good (not great) as people make ASUS routers out to be but worked better than anything I had before. With a Rosewill USB 3.0 Wireless Dual-Band Adapter 1.2Gbps my network connect was practically as good as LAN. This router has just about everything a home user could possibly want. I especially liked the fail-over/load balancing feature.
Router fails after 1.5 months, multiple customer support channels fail to provide resolution

Summary: My router failed after 1.5 months: the power light kept blinking and it would not accept connections. I tried to reach customer support in multiple ways: Their online form would not populate a drop-down menu, and would not allow submission without a selection in that menu...in 2 different browsers. Their phone number for my product puts me in a phone tree gets me to a recording listing their hours, even within those stated hours.
Very Defective Router, Firmware or RMA does not solve the issue. Manufacturer and Retailer refuse to acknowledge major flaw with

Summary: I originally purchased this router in January 2014. I was looking into upgrading from my old Belkin Wireless-G router and was planning to use the included USB 3.0 port to coordinate network backups in my home. However, upon using the router on my iPad or Laptop, I noticed that I got speeds less than 1 mbs!
RT-AC56U - Hardware Failure after a few weeks of service.

Summary: The Reset button has no effect, and Asus support recommends returning the unit for repair. However, the Asus warranty is only valid within the USA (where purchased via Amazon), although Asus has authorized repair centers around the globe. "ASUS does not perform warranty service outside of the country where you bought the wireless & networking product." I would not have purchased this Asus router had I known about this obscure warranty clause, since I live aboard.
Many issues and never performed better than my previous wifi router that was 2 years old.

Summary: Many issues, contacted asus support in India and was never able to fix it so that it didn't mysteriously drop off. Before i could return it, the seller closed the refund period as it was one day past 30. Do yourself a favor and look for a different router.
DO NOT BUY THIS ROUTER OR ANY ASUS PRODUCT !!!!!!! WORST TECH SUPPORT EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: I bought this Router January 2014. It has never worked properly. I get over 33 Mbps on my wired desktop. Using this wireless router RT-AC56U, I get less than 1 Mbps for all wireless devices more than 3 feet away from the router. I used my Asus tablet to test different distances. Asus tech support says that if my router works for my wired desktop then it is working and does not need repair. They do not care that it does not function properly wirelessly.
