Summary: I have DSL through Verizon. My modem was at least five years old, and would bog down and freeze if too many users at the same time. I bought a new wireless router first, which didn't help. I called Verizon/Calcutta several times, where they assured me the modem was fine. Since I didn't necessarily trust this information, I took the plunge and bought this modem. Everything works fine, problem fixed.
Summary: Home use with AT&T (BellSouth) 3-6 Mbps DSL. Easy, automatic install/recognition of correct parameters. Port forwarding works. Two routers behind this one and both work fine by setting RIP_1 and no logon on those routers. Also, set RIP_1 (called different) in this modem/router. IPSEC/VPN (in one of the back routers) works great for Office access from Home. Like the 4 ports. Supports the latest protocols. Highly recommended.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Fast, Highly Compatible, Secure, Small
Summary: The only problem was cutting through the tape and getting AT&T customer service to work with ActionTec customer service to get the product working properly. Neither agency wanted to cross the others toes, in order to satisfy the customer. Both AT&T and ActionTec kept me on the phone via conference call for 4 countem' FOUR hours! Finally they both agrred to work together and get me hooked up.
Summary: My old modem kept dieing on me so I needed a modem fast, ordered this Actiontec modem through one day air. Got it the next day! I'm more impressed of how fast i received it more than the product but don't get me wrong. Since I got it its worked great! Just hooked it up, went to to the modem home page and let it auto configure. Took about 5 minutes in total to auto configure and was surfing in 6. Good buy for good performance. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
