Summary: I am REALLY enjoying this rice cooker! I never bothered cooking brown rice before since it was always a challenge cooking it on the stove-top here in Colorado (always resulted in a gummy mess that remained crunchy on the inside, leaving a seriously gunked up pan).
Summary: Yeah!! Gaba brown rice and steel cut oats cooked for hours. I have come to live out this machine. I only make the two things I mentioned so far. I plan to look more into the slow cooking options, however, with the "keep warm" cycle I am able to add my ingredients to this machine-vegetables, rice...
Summary: This is a great rice cooker. After getting this, I appreciate rice a lot more and have started buying nicer quality rice. The umami setting takes a long time (more than an hour), so I start the rice before I start cooking everything else. It's perfect every time.
Summary: I bought this model as I was not interested in the "bake a cake" in the rice cooker, but I wanted the cooker to do more with its primary function...be a rice cooker. It excels at this greatly. White rice can be made quick, sticky, or just perfect.
I can say that it's not that great. My older Zojirushi cooked rice a lot better ...

Summary: After using this rice cooker for two years, I can say that it's not that great. My older Zojirushi cooked rice a lot better and had a retracting power cord. This umami version needs some adjustment with regards to the program as the rice just doesn't come out right.
Looking for a rice cooker? This is the one to buy!

Summary: I have been using my precious Zoji rice cooker for nearly three years, and love it every bit today as I did when I first purchased it. I was raised in Japan, and not ashamed to admit that I am a rice snob.
Summary: I was an umami skeptic. I didn't believe it could make a difference. Well, I was wrong. We've tried many types of rice from wild rice to jasmine or basmati. They all turn out better with the umami setting! Sometimes we use the quick rice setting in a hurry, but try to use umami when planning ahead.
