Summary: My last rice cooker is Zojirushi too. I bought this one because last one was unable to keep rice soft if I want to keep it warm. The first layer of rice became hard and yellow. This cooker is perfect and I find I need to set regular rice cooking with "shushi" if I want to eat rice tighter, softer, juicer. So after 3 month usage I found this secret and I use the "shushi" function everyday now.
Summary: Great rice cooker. It always makes perfect rice for our 2 person household. However, this rice cooker is not for someone who has rice every now and then. save your money and use a pot or $20 cooker. This device is meant for people who have rice multiple times a week. It is great for making a batch and having it stay warm for a few days. You just set it and forget it. This cooker is made in Japan so the quality is too notch.
Summary: After my old rice cooker bit the dust, it was time for a new one. I own other Zojirushi products, and they have all been fantastic. Very well-built and reliable. I did a lot of research before buying this item. I'm very pleased with my purchase. The IH makes a big difference, the rice comes out perfect every time. I eat a lot of rice so this is one of my most frequently used appliances. Making okayu and steel-cut oats is so easy. The timer function is a big time saver.
Good rice cooker but replacement tubs are not available.
18 December 2011
Summary: While this is a great rice cooker be aware that replacement cooking tubs are not available. After two years of occasional use the tub developed a spot where the non-stick coating started to lift. An online search shows that the tub is not for sale in the US at least.
Summary: This has been on my "wish list" for a while - I determined the size that I wanted and researched many options before I chose the Zojirushi rice cooker. After our old rice cooker finally died, I received my long-awaited rice cooker. The clean-up is very easy and the size is perfect and unobtrusive on our countertop. The rice I've made with this has been superb--better than the rice that came out of our old rice cooker, hands-down!
Summary: I have owned alot of rice cookers, mostly cheap ones and larger. This one is the best yet! Didn't know if a 5 1/2 cup would be big enough with 3 adults in the house, it is just the right size. It is built to last, very well thought out and easy to use. Money well spent!
Summary: I use this rice cooker once or twice a day. Everything (brown rice, sushi, steel cut oatmeal, sweet sticky rice, etc) comes out perfectly. I would never be able to cook such perfect rice on the stove. I thought that I made a mistake of not buying 10 cup model, but 2-3 cups is what I end up cooking for a family of 4 (and we have the leftovers). I am so impressed with Zojirushi, would definitely buy their products in the future.
Summary: My maiden voyage with this was wild rice. At the end of the cycle I had a bunch of standing water left in the cooker, despite using the recommended amount of water. I guess I could keep it and use less water next time but for the other problem -- instead of the steam just venting into the air I was left with a bunch of gooey water on my countertop. I was making 1 standard 8-ounce cup of wild rice, which should be well within the capacity of this cooker.
Summary: This rice cooker cooks the white rice just right. Easy to follow instructions which takes away the guess work on how much water to put in. Size is just enough for a small party. Plays music when you start cooking and when it finishes.
