Why do they need to put lead in the cord? otherwise great so far

dw, Amazon
17 November 2009
  • Summary: We've owned this device for about a week now (purchased for $99 on Amazon after considering Zojirushi, other Sanyo models, and a few Aroma models both in-store and online -- definitely expensive, but speedy shipping and perfect condition out of the box), and used it to cook white rice almost daily, with and without the timer. It's been great, aside from the fact that the cord apparently contains lead, which consumers are warned about on the first page of the manual.

Excellent rice cooker! Easy to use, highly recommended!

Amazon Customer, Amazon
9 December 2008
  • Summary: I purchased this rice cooker December 2007 and have only good things to say about the unit. - We use it primarily for jasmine rice, which turns out great in both traditional modes (~30 minutes) and quick cooking (~20 minutes). -The keep warm cycle is especially helpful for a busy family, or for a hungry teenager who comes home and makes a batch of rice for a snack and then I follow up with the rest of the rice for dinner.

Not the best

J. Ruhl Frank, Amazon
7 August 2008
  • Summary: This machine is a real disappointment. I know it's half the cost of the Zojirushi's, but I'd say it's also half the quality. When I first saw that this has a sprouted rice setting, I got all excited thinking it was the same as the GABA rice setting on the Zojirushi IH cooker, which heats the rice at 104 degrees for 2 hours before cooking so that it begins to sprout, and makes a much healthier brown rice.

I <heart> carbs

E. Hansen, Amazon

  • Summary: I hope you find the following helpful in making your purchase decisions: 1. Love the timer. People complain that Fuzzy Logic cookers take longer to cook rice, but it doesn't matter if you plan for the rice to finish cooking when you are ready to eat, or when you aren't ready, it'll stay warm for hours. Leftovers stay fresh for days in the fridge. 2. Reheat button. Makes cold rice taste fresh in the time it takes me to shower and set the table. 3.

Great Design; Good Rice

Michael Fielden "thegeekchannel.com", Amazon

  • Summary: I have wanted an electronic rice cooker for some time. My primary use would be rice, but as a secondary use I wanted something that could also function well as a food steamer. I chose the Sanyo product after reading the reviews on the Amazon site. It seemed like a good balance and if the reviews proved accurate the price/value would definitely make this a good buy.

A quality product that is easy to use

D. K. Barham, Amazon
24 December 2007
  • Summary: I am very happy with this rice cooker. I have now used it to make rice and to make rice while steaming a bag of frozen vegetables. Each time the rice was delicious. When preparing frozen vegetables in the supplied steaming tray, the vegetables (along with salt, pepper, and garlic powder) were seasoned well and also added flavor to the rice below. I bought this 10-cup cooker since the price is nearly the same as for the 5-cup model.

Well made, takes a long time to cook (30+ minutes for 2 cups)

Y. CHIU "eldic", Amazon
19 December 2007
  • Summary: I have my previous rice cooker for 16 years (Panasonic/National), its still working but I saw this one on sale and decided to give it a try. The unit is well built, quite handsome, and funtional. First pot of rice turned out very nice. Another other nice thing about it is that there is not much steam coming out from the vent on top so you won't have to worry much about water damage to the btotom of your kitchen cabinet.

easy to use and clean

J. Li "someone", Amazon
8 December 2007
  • Summary: I always make steamed food and this rice cooker is perfect for me. I just need to set the timer in the morning, put the rice and the food to steam in my rice cooker and go to work. After I arrive home, rice and the steamed food is already done. I also use it to cook porridge, but it always makes the porridge as rice. The only thing I didn't like too much is that it's too slow in cooking rice. But soon I found the fast-cook function can help and the rice is still good.

I can't live without it.

A. Landry, Amazon
27 November 2007
  • Summary: I read lots of customer reviews on all of the rice cookers before buying this one. Several people said that the Ziroshi wasn't really any better than this one, and this one is way cheaper. I definitely feel like I made the right decision. I've been using the timer to make brown rice for me every morning, so I'll have it for my lunch and it always comes out absolutely perfect. I've had several of the cheaper rice cookers, and I can say that there is no comparison.

Great rice cooker, but not a slow cooker

KORAL ILGUN, Amazon
10 November 2007
  • Summary: I have been using this machine a little over a week and I am quite happy with the rice cooker feature. It is very well designed, easy to use/clean and it makes great rice. However I bought it in favor of other rice cookers, because I also needed a slow cooker. This was listed as capable of slow cooking, but it is more like a "fast cooker". I made a bean stew which I expected would take easily 8 hours with slow cooking because I didn't soak the beans overnight.
