Summary: Exactly, amount of water matters the most. I have been using this cooker for more than a year and I have been cooking rice all my life. I should say, this product is excellent. I'm not sure if I got a "special piece" :P or something. The key is the right proportion of rice to water. 1:2 is ideal.
Summary: I do not recommend this cooker as i just bought new one in march 2005 and stopped working by september 2005. Another bad thing with this is that the vessel for cooking will start lossing inside black color with in first few months which makes rice sticks to vessel.

Summary: I have never used a rice cooker before so I followed the instructions and started cooking 2 cups of rice. I checked on the rice about 1/2 hour later and the water was shooting out of the steam hole and all over my kitchen wall.
