Newegg Not Authorized Dealer

Nancy N., Newegg
24 March 2007
  • Summary: Please heed all warnings when considering whether or not to buy this remote. NewEgg is not an Authorized Dealer for URC. What does this mean to you? This means that all of your new equipment (and future equipment) will not have the codes for your equipment, and you cannot get the new codes either.
  • Pros: Learning capability, RF capability.
  • Cons: No IR update ability!

Awesome

Kyle P., Newegg
21 September 2006
  • Summary: Works awesome. Great remote. If your equipment is far away, go with the MRF-350 RF reciever base and a RFX-150 as an antenna extender (if wire isn't long enough, simply use some cat5).
  • Pros: Nice range, works well and looks sweet, especially the backlight. Easy to program as all of the regular MX series are.
  • Cons: I just went to the website, and cannot find the software required to program it, luckily, I have copies from before they took it away...

No more software updates

Walter M., Newegg
9 August 2006
  • Pros: A great remote. It is easy to program and the remote can be made to do very powerful things via that programming. I have installed several of these for myself, family and friends.
  • Cons: HOWEVER -- Be aware that the manufacturer, Universal Remote, has decided to no longer distribute updates for the programming software to consumers -- only professional installers. So... programming these remotes will become much more tedious now that no infrared database updates will be made avai...

Best Remote I've ever owned

blackcapten, PriceGrabber
26 July 2006
  • Summary: I never imagined I'd spend nearly 200 bucks on a remote control, but this thing has been great so far and I certainly don't regret it. I have probably 10 or so remotes hanging around and I decided this remote would replace all of them -- and so far it has.
  • Pros: easy to learn software, lcd display, lots of customizable features
  • Cons: pricey

One unit does it all

netboyz, PriceGrabber
21 July 2006
  • Summary: This is the unit that supposedly does it all--it can control everything for you. Once programmed, that is. Which is the hard part. The instructions are only average, unfortunately leaving me to guess as to how to go about doing some things.
  • Pros: Light-up buttons and display; easy to read LCD screen; ergonomic design
  • Cons: Difficult to program

Aeros MX-850

bulldog93, PriceGrabber
16 December 2005
  • Summary: Retails for $400, but I got it at Good Guys for $120. That's even cheaper than the Harmony 880 that I was looking at. This is higher quality and a bit more powerful than the Harmony remote.
  • Pros: Great one remote to rule them all.
  • Cons: Pricey.

Universal Remote Control Aeros IR/RF Remote Control

jensen18, PriceGrabber
11 May 2005
  • Summary: Universal Remote Control makes quality products with the consumer in mind. I started looking at their consumer series with the URC-200. I switched to the MX-350 as I found it for the same price and it could do multiple RF addressing.
  • Pros: MX PC editor, Customization (macros on any button, press and hold for alt command), Editable LCD, Style, IR range, All hard buttons, Can control everything but the kitchen sink
  • Cons: Expensive, Can't operate all buttons with one hand as remote is large
