Sony Blu-Ray Disc Remote Control (PS3): If using your PS3 mainly as a Blu-ray player this is essenti ...

Summary: Everyone knows the PS3 comes with one of the best Blu-ray players around however the regular controller is actually terrible as a remote. This little cracker really does the business in that respect and it's bluetooth connectivity means that if you store the PS3 in a television cabinet and keep it out of the way. As it only switches on when you choose to switch it on, the batteries seemed to last a lot longer than most regular remote control.
Summary: I have owned a ps3 for years now, evey Christmas my family will get me games or something to jazz up my ps3. This year my parents spotted this and got it for me, it's basically a remote control for the ps3 which can be used instead of the controllers to operate the ps3. It's can be used to play DVDs and blu ray disks. You can also used it in games, but it really just doesn't work for that at all.
Pros: Use ps3 like a blu ray player, fast forward easier.
Cons: Cost and the fact that you can use your ps3 remotes to do the same thing
Sony Blu-Ray Disc Remote Control (PS3): Point and click, easy peasy
22 January 2012
Summary: After getting play tv for the playstation I decided to invest in a remote to make things easier. You can just use the normal controller for the play tv and for watching dvds/bluerays but the remote makes things so much easier. The remote is easy to use, just need to follow the written instructions to "pair" it with your ps3 and then you are ready to go.
A nice addition to your PS3 - but only if you like a traditi ...

Summary: I bought my PS3 not just because it's a great games machine, but also because it's a high spec Blu-Ray player as well. This was important to me as I'd had a HD camcorder for a while but no way to play back the discs unless I used my PC or connected the camera to a TV with HDMI input. First impressions were that the remote was quite large, but there are a lot of buttons and so I can't really see it being made any smaller in width.
Pros: Gives you a traditional remote control for your Playstation 3, specifically for DVD and Blu-Ray.
Sony Blu-Ray Disc Remote Control (PS3): Bluetooth control over your blu-ray discs
30 October 2011
Summary: Having purchased a Playstation 3 console mainly for gaming I was amazed with the quality of sound and image quality you get with films which are on blu-ray disc over DVD and so I decided to ensure that I could use the blu-ray playing features of the console to the fullest but does the official blu-ray remote control really make a difference?
Pros: Sleek & simple design, great connection thanks to bluetooth, good value, well made, complete control
Summary: The PS3 remote is purely a money making ploy from Sony. Its clearly a nice to have item as opposed to a need to have. This does nothing the actual PS3 gaming controller doesn't. Another problem is the sensitivity of the remote, just by picking it up I tend to press buttons I didn't and then it will normally mean I have to restart the PS3 to get back to the main menu of the disc. Why this happens I have no idea but it has happened a number of times and is rather annoying.
Sony Blu-Ray Disc Remote Control (PS3): fantastic remote
11 February 2011
Summary: Sony Blu-Ray Disc Remote Control PS3 When purchasing the playstation 3 this item was on the top of my wish list. The playstation is a great blu-ray player however the controllers are far from great remotes for when you are viewing DVDs and Blu-Rays, this remote control however is great. The controller has a very good weight and feel about it and is very much like a normal tv or dvd remote and has all of the right buttons in the right places.
Pros: bluetooth, great battery life and all the right functions
Summary: Well i'll lay out the basics of what i think about this product right now: - Although its a nice luxury to have, its not really needed, everything on the remote can be done with the PS3 gamepad by using the On Screen Display. - There is a wide range of buttons, even more so than a DVD remote. - The controller can be used to play games, in some slow paced games it could be used as an additional controller.
Pros: Has lots of buttons, simpler to use for someone used to a dvd player remote, can be used with games.
Cons: Not much point in it unless you want a simpler interface, or if you use your ps3 for movies a lot.
Sony Blu-Ray Disc Remote Control (PS3): Essential Accessory
5 April 2010
Summary: If you're using the PS3 to watch films, either on Blu-Ray or DVD, this remote is extremely useful and much more suitable than simply using the limited functions of the PS3 controller. Although movie playback is certainly possible with just the controller, this remote gives the PS3 more of a media centre usability.
Pros: Light, well placed/sized buttons, far better than the controller
Summary: This blue tooth remote control is essential if you ever use your PS3 for Blu-ray's or media playback as its too easy to press the wrong button when using the Dual Shock controller. The unit is quite chunky and solid with well placed buttons that mimic most of the functions the Dual Shock controller. It takes 2 AA batteries which last for ages. The amount of charge left is also displayed on screen when you press the PS button so you can monitor how long is left.
