Not useful for controlling TV

Summary: I bought this to control our XBox 360 when we wanted to watch DVDs or online content, but I also wanted to be able to control the volume and change the channel on our TV. However, even though it has channel buttons, they're useless, since they don't work with any TV. So with this remote you can power on your TV, adjust the volume, and change the inputs, but you cannot change the channel.
Summary: Got this for my son with some of his birthday stuff. He likes watching Netflix and Amazon movies from his bed but was complaining that using the regular controller for this is a pain because every time he wanted to change settings or pause, the controller would be in sleep mode and he would have to wake it up and he would miss his pause spot. Also the constant waking and sleeping of his controller was killing the battery prematurely.
Summary: I was a little concerned to get this because it doesn't have the green XBMC button. I set my xbox 360 to automatically turn on the media center when you turn it on, and have no need for the button. :) The buttons are more responsive than the old white xbox remote. Very pleased for the price. One thing I did have to do when programming it was do a Google search for the programming code. Once I found it, it programmed quickly. I no longer use my TV remote control.
Summary: I chose this remote over the new one because I Have the original Xbox 360 and I wanted it to match. I also liked that it has the lighted buttons. I liked that it wasn't expensive and also includes basic functionality for your television built in. I am going to use this for my old Xbox 360 which is going to be set up as a media center extender instead of renting a cable box for the bedroom.
A must if you are a movie / video watcher on the Xbox.

Summary: This thing has been a great addition! I no longer have to wait for a controller to turn on to pause or control playback of videos. I no longer have to go thru so many batteries (which has saved money) because the controller is turned on all the time while watching Netflix. Drawbacks: I use a receiver for sound/video with the Xbox, and I am disappointed the volume can not be programmed for anything other than the TV sound/control.
Summary: Soooo just like everyone else says. Yes, this doesn't work unless you have it pointed directly at the front of your Xbox and not everyone has their Xbox in the most ideal place for this. You have to really get it in it's sweet spot which is incredibly frustrating. Sometimes I just use my xbox gaming controller instead.
Summary: The remote works well with the TV and it was easy to program. The problem was with the XBOX and the instructions do not specify it. You need to go into the settings, controller options and enable it to be controlled by a media remote. I had to search to find this out, I almost returned the remote thinking it was bad.
