"Not worth it. Go for the IR version (Harmony One)."
1 May 2012
Pros: Touch screen is great. I didnt find the software hard to use at all. Setup was fairly simple for the technologically inclined.
Cons: LAG! The lag induced by the RF-IR blaster setup is extremely frustrating sometimes, particularly when trying to change channels or volume quickly. Also the motion sensor is not very good...sometimes you have to shake the remote to get it to wake up.
Pros: Remote is easy to use and setup Compatibility with the majority of all AV devices- If your Device is not listed you can contact Logitech customer service and they can add that device to your remote
Cons: IR- Line of sight- if you have your AV equipment Hidden you will have to buy optional IR blasters to use this remote. Remote is not consistent Requires Optional Adapter if you want to control your PS3 Not Durable-if you happen to damage your remote which
Summary: I bought this remote based on the reviews on this site but they forgot to indicate there is no free support after 90 days. After that period you have to pay 30$ just to talk to customer service. Now every time my cable company makes a change or I change a device I have to pay 30$ to have tech support help with the changes and trust me you will need tech support. Many of the devices and the commads are not working properly and only tech sup. can fix the problems.
Pros: Finally, RF control for the Harmony One Improved LCD display Easy internet-based programming.
Cons: You CANNOT upgrade from Harmony One. You must re-do everything. Bulky "IR blasters", bad approach. Very poor key responsiveness. Terrible setup UI for advanced users. Slow touch-screen animations, no sequences.
Pros: Very simple and powerful for simple 1 room configurations. RF is nice for components hidden away in a cabinet.
Cons: Contrary to the advertised RF range of up to 100ft, this remote's RF range is only about 30ft (and not even that if going through a floor). Logitech's 890 also advertises a 100ft range and actually has that kind of range in the same home setting.
Pros: IR programing was fast and easy with the computer interface.
Cons: I already have one RF device. I was on hold with customer service for 1 hour 3 different times and never got to talk to anyone. I've emailed them twice for support, and no replies. The remote is going back to the store
Summary: Have owned this produce for a few months now and I must say I am disappointed with it's performance and software. The Logitech software is confusing to use and, in my opinion, not user friendly. I found the remote difficult to set up and I still cannot control my all my devices. Often times when I attach the remote to my desktop for software updates everything will freeze. This happens almost every time so what's up with that...
