Summary: I got a refurb. Battery life is than the 5 days unlike some other reports. Software is horrible. It's portal to their online database. Forces an update every time you log in. There is no point in this, just download what is needed or allow the user to manually update when needed.
Pros: Controls multiple devices (I only have 3) Customizable controls Excellent database of devices Backlit buttons
Cons: Horrible online configuration Even more horrible installed software Button layout could have been better
Summary: If you're looking to buy a new universal remote every year, logitech is the company for you! As much as I'm impressed with their ease of use of their products, I prefer to spend my money on a product that's not gonna die in a year.
Pros: Works great, controls my Denon av receiver, samsung TV, and DirecTV box with just one button. The logitech software took a few tries to get it configured but was very intuitive. I've told all my friends how great this remote is, it very cool
Cons: Great RMA service, or should that be listed under the pros. My first one had some sort of power short and would drain the batteries in a matter of days. This happened just shy of the 1 year mark (whew!) so I called logitech and they sent a replacement, no problems. I've had the 2nd one now for a ...
Excerpt: I have this device and tried to set up with my new 46'' Samsung LCD TV. It did not work. The tech support suggested a couple approaches and none of them worked and the support never respond to my request thereafter.
Summary: Excellent for the price! Newegg was super quick in shipping this to me as well.
Pros: So easy to setup and use. It took me only 30 minutes and I was enjoying this marvelous remote. The instructions were intuitive and easy to follow. I really love how easy it will be to make changes as well.
Cons: The buttons are kind of small and for my older eyes they are a little hard to read, but I can wear my reading glasses.
Summary: This is a very nice remote. There are 3 buttons at the top to automatically set up your home theater for watching movies, TV, or listening to music. Totally cool. No more having to find 3 different remotes to turn on the equipment and configuring the TV and receiver so I can watch and listen to my...
Pros: Controls all of my devices including a cable box/DVR from a maker I have never heard of before, a 10 year old CD player, a 7 year old DVD player and a LCD TV that has been on the market for less than a year. And it controls them flawlessly. The software to setup the remote is very intuitive and w...
Cons: Installing the software took a little bit of time (~15 minutes).
Summary: Once again the Harmony remotes are such a joy when they are working. I have had two different models now and both were broken withing the first 1-1.5 years.
Pros: The Harmony line is by FAR the easiest best line of remotes I have ever seen. I cannot say that I know of anything that is even close in terms of functionality and ease of use. I use this things for my multpart entertainment center and it is the ONLY remote that actually lets me put the originals...
Cons: Battery life is pretty bad. After about 8 months it started rebooting because the battery compartment doesn't firmly hold the batteries in. Logitech products in general seem to suffer from quality issues these days. I have had more than a few lock ups and freezes. Logitech support is really bad.
Summary: This is the best remote I've ever owned, and even my wife (who has hated every other universal we've had) likes it. Even with the small TV input issue, it still accomplished my two goals: (1) control all my components, and (2) keep me from having to get up off the couch to do anything.
Pros: This remote rocks! Incredibly simple to program with very easy, intuitive software. Launch the software, connect the remote, select your devices and how you like to use them, and voila! Harmony even had codes for my obscure HANNSpree LCD TV, which not even HANNSpree could provide. The "activity" ...
Cons: I started out with a refurb 659, but the "glow" feature stopped working within a week. Newegg did not have any more in stock, so they gave me a full refund (go, Newegg!). Replaced it with this 670 (refurb from another outlet named after a large river) for less than 1/2 the price for new, and I'm ...
