Does what its supposed to

Gregory H., Newegg

  • Summary: The remote doesn't have a dedicated "on" button. Instead there are dedicated activity buttons that you can program to send an 'on' command when you press that activity button. this can be problematic because if the TV's off and the remote's in "watch tv" mode, pressing the "watch TV" activity button...
  • Pros: Unlimited Compatability with Devices. Online database lists every component you can think of including Windows MCE. If it doesn't exist you can create your own profile. Works great. Lots of buttons. Backlit. Very comfortable and ergonomic. Activity buttons are helpful to get multiple devices to d...
  • Cons: The software UI sucks. Painfully slow to use since it's webbased and gets confusing when you're trying to make multiple changes.Shiny plasticy feel to the buttons make them all feel the same and hard to "feel" out in the dark.

Love this thing

  • Summary: Love the prompts and how it walks you through problems. My wife still can't figure it out though. Oh well.
  • Pros: Love this thing! Mainly because of the price point. I've been looking for a universal that worked at a good price for years and this is the one.
  • Cons: Does take some tech savvy to set up, and the setup utility is an online application so a broadband connection really helps.

better than any other universal remote

Eric W., Newegg

  • Summary: This remote has backlighting which is nice, once you find the button. The light shuts itself off quite quickly. Higher end Harmony remotes light up simply by moving them.
  • Pros: The remote set up is tedious but not difficult. Once setup, it seems to work as it should
  • Cons: Some commonly used functions are buried deep in menus. For example, there is no dedicated button for eject.

works well once setup

The V., Newegg
22 January 2006
  • Summary: I am controlling lcd hdtv w/ PIP, hd cable box, pvr, media center pc, xbox 360, dvd player, cd changer and stereo/surround sound receiver. I am able to accomplish everything I want to do at a push of a button. It took me about 2 hours to get it the way I wanted. The results were worth the effort.
  • Pros: very customizable, this will control everything that is IR based. Remote has a nice feel. Lights up well so is easy to read in dark. I was able to setup and control all of my components. It has the ability to learn straight from current remote(very handy). Initially relies on a online database to...
  • Cons: setup can be abit tedious even if you are tech savy. Only way to program is thru the online GUI. I think you would want a high speed connection for the process. I wish the programming could have been done without relying so heavy on the online part. I think it could have been designed to be easie...
