Why is this $200? Great remote, too much money.

D. Mcadams, Amazon
7 December 2011
  • Summary: I purchased this remote 4 years ago when I got my first HD tv. I loved it and it finally kicked the bucket about 2 months ago. I abused it pretty much.. went through 2 moves and a divorce. It was only $80 at that time. And that wasn't some special sale, that was EVERYWHERE. Save your money and get a different remote.. or find it from somewhere else. Amazon, this is the first time you've ever disappointed me.

Best universal remote, period

Ali M. Vassigh "User Experience Designer", Amazon
9 November 2010
  • Summary: Easy to setup and use, this Harmony remote may well be one of the best universal remotes to date. Guys, this will be the best electronic gift your wife will actually thank you for (this and a TiVo)! This specific version has a few extra buttons to help simplify interactions with an Xbox 360. Also, it feels great in your hand; it fits nicely, is well-balanced and the arrangement of the buttons is highly functional as well as beautiful.

"I love this remote!"

Dnepr Dave, CNET
2 March 2010
  • Pros: Easy to set up, just be sure to have the name and model number of all your devices you want to control before you start. I like the back-lit controls. Controls make sense and all are easy to access..
  • Cons: I can't think of anything that I don't like about it.

"Beautiful - can lock away five other remotes!"

DeeJay57, CNET
11 December 2009
  • Pros: least expensive of the Harmony remotes family - can literally perform any function or combination of functions - totally customizable, you can set buttons however you like - has the ability to "learn" from your existing remotes
  • Cons: programming the remote would be difficult for non-techies - I almost had to call the help line but persisted and was successful in the end. The number buttons are small and close together.

"Easy to set up with full control."

cmmiles78, CNET
30 November 2009
  • Pros: The web-based set up is very easy and you get true control over all your components.
  • Cons: Only controls 5 devices and there is a rattling noise in the remote. I returned the first one and got a new one, but it also had the same rattle noise. ???? I'll be contacting Logitech for answers.

Logitech Harmony 510 Advanced Universal Remote Control

MikeB.2835, Rate it all!
12 October 2009
  • Summary: This is the second Harmony 510 I've purchased. The first one is in use on the TV / set top box / DVD-VCR in the den and this one is for the TV / set top box /DVD-VCR in the master bedroom (both setups are identical). What can I say...it does what it says it does. The software is very easy to use and didn't give me a problem setting up my TV / set top box / and DVD-VCR player/recorder. The directions from Logitech are very clear and are easy to follow.

"for those w/ home theaters... just not the high end."

jcpotratz, CNET
7 September 2009
  • Pros: PC and Mac compatible. Comfortable in the hand, not heavy, but solid. Sized like a normal remote. The 4 color buttons and the alpha-numeric keypad are perfect for DirecTV users. Supports a variety of products... even VUDU! Backlight.
  • Cons: For me, if I could add one more device, it would be perfect. Otherwise, this is the best remote that I have ever owned.
