Harmony Smart Control does NOT replace 890

Frank, Logitech
29 January 2014
  • Summary: Just setup the Smart Control to replace my 890. Setup crashed via the harmony app, so I reset the Smart Control to factory settings and setup via USB which worked fine. Transferred programming from 890 without issues.

Not compatible!

Bill, Logitech
16 August 2013
  • Summary: Replaced my old ONE+ remote with Smart Control, and intend to use it with my iPhone 3GS. Be careful! Not compatible «with iPhone» as they say, but only 4s and 5. Poor instructions

Not good out of the gate

TonsofFun, Logitech
15 June 2013
  • Summary: No useful instructions with the product. The only thing that came in the box pointed you to the mobile app which is worthless because you can't set the thing up with the mobile app until you get it on your wireless network which you can only do through the computer.

Good Hardware / Junk Software

Anonymous, Newegg
23 January 2012
  • Pros: Works with every device in my house except Wii. Good range. Controlls my Onkyo's volume better than the Onkyo remote.
  • Cons: Software (required to configure remote) is complete junk. 1) Requires online account to configure remote. 2) Requires update check to configure remote. 3) Wants to run in system tray 24/7. 4) One online account per REMOTE (yes i said REMOTE). 5) Can't update existing online account to new remote....

Decent Remote but Software is TERRIBLE!

Timothy S., Newegg
4 December 2011
  • Summary: I like the remote just fine, but I can't understand what Logitech was thinking when they designed this setup application. WORST software EVER!
  • Pros: Extensive device support, RF communication for IR extender when devices are not in line-of-sight, macros for switching settings on multiple devices.
  • Cons: Worst configuration software EVER! The configuration app is a 54MB download but is just a glorified web browser. The software only works when 1.) You have an Internet connection and 2.) The Logitech Harmony web site is operational. I just tried to add a new receiver to my remote's config and had ...

Windows Media Center / Don't Buy

Jordan A., Newegg
26 February 2011
  • Summary: - I bought this for my projector, receiver, and pc. Couldn't get software to work right so had to use another computer. Found out the RF isn't RF, just the ability to buy something else then send your IR signal through it via RF. Save the money and buy a $30 extender from walmart.
  • Pros: - Less remotes for lazy people like me to pick up. If it worked.
  • Cons: - RF remote that doesn't control RF devices. - No PC Support or PC integration from a PC based company. - Have to re-program both the RF extender and remote via USB every time you change something. - Software is awful, essentially a web site with yes or no questions the whole way. - Support lied ...

Harmony 1100

Jacqueline W., Newegg
7 January 2011
  • Summary: They should have gotten the bugs out of it before putting it on the market. They knew that it was having a hard time with the campatibility of Windows 7 and Vista. I am disappointed because I really wanted this when I saw it on G4 at the Las Vegas show I knew it would replace my other 5 remotes.
  • Pros: Was easy to set up even when I had to manually set up.
  • Cons: It would not work, touch screen would not work. The battery never went full green. Went on line to help trouble shoot. This model had hard time with Windows 7 and Vista all kinds of bugs and patches. Even though the box clearly states it is for Windows 7 and Vista. Would never let me use touch sc...

OK, with SERIOUS deficiencies

Jeffrey H., Newegg
12 November 2010
  • Summary: I have two other Harmony remotes, and they are great - both handhelds without touchscreens. I won't buy another T1100 or T1000, but I would buy a Harmony One or another 880. This is a huge disappointment considering all their promises.
  • Pros: - Simple setup and easy to add devices - nice form factor - touchscreen accurate and sensitive without being over-sensitive - "hard" buttons for standard functions (vol, ch, mute, etc.)
  • Cons: - "custom" buttons really aren't - button customization interface is completely different than remote interface - programming allows 6 buttons per page, but remote allows 9 per page. For keypads, 9 buttons is insufficient (0 - 9) and makes keypads almost useless - Harmony interface assumes you ha...

Good remote but not very durable

Tam D., Newegg
9 March 2010
  • Summary: The 3.5 inch touch screen went blank a short while after one year of use. The remote still work if you still remember (or guess) where the buttons are located on the touch screen. You're probably think i must have really abused the remote over the last year but the fact is I haven't.
  • Pros: Good all in one remote controlller
  • Cons: Need to disable your computer's firewall completely before you can sucessfully sync with the remote. Sound simple but a real pain to do at times.
