Logitech's Harmony remotes just keep getting better. The 1000 model distinguishes itself with a rectangular design and touchscreen control. It's responsive and intuitive to operate, and feels great in your hand, too. Read more

    • We've loved Logitech remotes in the past and this is possibly the coolest

At twice the price of the 785, this is a big investment, but if you have a complex home entertainment system it may be worth it. It's easy to use, and I can also say that Logitech' free helpline is effective. Read more

Introduction The first TV remote was made by Zenith in 1950. Called “Lazy Bones,” it allowed you to change the channels and to turn the TV on and off. It came with a 20-foot wire connecting it to the set. The first wireless remote also came from Zenith in 1955, using a directional flashlight to activate its then-incredible four control functions; the “flashlight” system meant stray sunlight activated functions at any given time. L og into Logitech's website these days and the first thing you see is a huge image of their swanky new product, the Logitech Harmony 1000. For the uninitiated, this is a universal remote control, an upgraded version of Logitech's 880 model. As the name implies, it's designed to control all your electronic home theater devices. The brand was originally developed by Canada's Intrigue Technologies, which is now owned by none other than Logitech. Read more

The only question remaining is that of value: £250 is a lot of money to spend on a remote, however good it is. But if you have a complicated hi-fi and AV setup, there's no more powerful way of controlling everything at once. It's a bit of a fiddle to get the perfect setup, but the sheer flexibility of what you can do with it and the ease with which such complex operations can be programmed in is to be highly commended. Throughout this review I’ve pointed out issues and areas of potential improvement for the Harmony, but it should be understood that these come from someone familiar and comfortable with the programming of advanced universal remote controls using tools that, while less restrictive and typically quicker to use, generally offer no guidance on how to do something or what to do next. 1. Awful!

This remote is a joke. Run-away commands on a daily basis. Volume all the way up or down with one touch, channels scrolling out of control, locking up. Any call to customer service gets the same treatment- they are surprised! Yeah right, they are still surprised after handling the exact same problem day in and day out. Now it won't keep a charge. I'd return it if I could. Now I wait for a replacement 890 model due to a class action. Read more

It doesn't respond fast when pressing the buttons, its screen needs to be more responsive, it looks like first generations touch screens, needs improvements. Other then that its great, very easy to use and program, actually here I would say it is perfect, takes care of all the functions the other remotes have. Read more

For a remote that has any features as it does and does not require someone from Nasa to visit your home to program it...I love it. If you encounter problems out-of-the-box, ring up the customer support line; as I mentioned above, I spoke with the US and Ind1a version, heard the Canadian support is great too... Read more

The Idea of an all in one remote is very simple.....control your whole system using one remote control. Especially useful the more complicated your system is. In my case to watch sky i would need the remote to turn on the tv, the remote for the amplifier and the remote for the sky box itself. So this cuts it down to just the one....how very helpful. The remote itself, you can feel, is very well built and you can almost feel the quality. Read more

After having to enter my component information multiple times because the Harmony 1000 wouldn't save my settings, the remote worked for about an hour and then froze. Resetting and reinstalling the software on my computer didn't work, so obviously I was left with no choice to return it. However, for the brief period that it did work, the response time between trying to use functions and component response was slow and not being able to customize the Harmony to the extent...
