Conclusion: Great little remote for the money! I enjoy not having to rub the paint off the buttons on my HU. Very durable, Ive dropped it out of my lifted truck countless time and it hasn't quit working yet so it gets 5 stars in the category. I only have 2 cons. First one is SQ settings (besides Volume) I would have liked to be able to control my subwoofer level and tweak other SQ settings from it. Second is the distance in which the remote works, maybe only about 12 feet or so.
Summary: I bought this remote to use with a CD-105. I was disappointed after I received it. You have to literally point it at the deck to get it to work. You cant just have you hand on your lap and adjust the volume or change tracks. The other issue is the lag time with the remote. Hard to explain but you have to push the volume button and wait a couple seconds then push it again. If you hold it down the volume will go up or down extremely fast.
Summary: I purchased this remote for use with the Alpine CDA105 HU, which didn't include a remote control. It works just fine right out of the box with no hiccups or problems. The only con I see is that it is a large remote (about the size of a Twinkie, but thinner) in comparison to previous remotes for the different HUs that I've owner over the years... I guess that means that it would be harder to lose : ). Overall, I say that it is a good buy.
Summary: Due to the model radio I have, not all buttons on this remote are functional, and it does not control all functions of the radio. This is not a serious problem in my view. I realize that it's made to work with a range of radio models. The remote is very helpful in allowing a passenger to control the radio without reaching for the small controls on the face of the radio.
