Summary: Bought the fridge from Lowe's 7/28/13. Started to hear noise from the fan 4 months later. Then the fridge stopped working a month ago - temperature is getting up while temp reading showed 32F as setting. Called up Samsung and un-plugged to reset as suggested. The temp indicator was then back to "normal" - 56F instead of 32F set temp. Called up service and it turned out the fan motor is completely dead - only 9 months after the manufactured date. Unbelievable.
Summary: I have a Samsung Refrigerator which is just over 5 yrs old and needed to be repaired out of warranty. The freezer door on the actual refrigerator never really closed properly as I always had to give it an extra push to make it seal properly. After a while the problem seemed to get worse as the door at times would reamin slightly open causing food spoilage and high electric bills. I will admit I am getting older as I am a retired on a fixed income and age is settling in.
Summary: Bought brand new set for my new home from best buy in 2012. 3 months later, the water line heater for the ice maker died. Apparently this is not a serviceable part, so samsung shipped a whole new freezer door to my home and a tech came out to install it. But my biggest complaint is the ice maker. The ice maker in this thing is absolute fail on samsungs part. First, it jams constantly!
Summary: Man it looked nice in the store. Even had a 'demo' mode so everything turned on when you opened the doors without the fridge actually running. Cool looking LED lighting went from dim to bright when the door was opened. Really slick looking control panel with sexy blue lights. Top drawer stainless steel doors. I mean. This fridge begged me to buy it.
Summary: This refrigerator has many promising features but the worst part of it that has led me to consider getting rid of it is the ice maker. The ice maker is designed into the door which leads to the ice chute freezing up with shaved ice every 2-3 months. Samsung has essentially dumped it off as a service issue and all 5 service people who have taken a look at it have acknowledged the problem to be consistent on this specific model.
Summary: Samsung is a cheap useless company!! our unit stopped cooling Friday. we have had it 2.5 years. we paid $1789.. at Lowes for it. Samsung refused to repair the unit and cover all costs rather we have to cover it including the $75 to have the service tech look at it (total repair between 500-700 dollars) ... Samsung sells Korean junk and does not support there shabby product with a decent warrantee. I called them and got excuses.
Summary: We have the exact same experience with the ice maker as the other detailed review. It clogs frequently and will only dispense crushed ice. We had the ice maker replaced twice and now it is out of warranty so we are stuck with this horrible product. Before purchasing I used Consumer Reports and they rated this erroneously as a better than average model.
Summary: Same complaint as so many others; ice maker & water dispenser are cruel. 1) Won't dispense ice for long delay, then sudden dumps out a whole load. 2) Never mind whether you selected crushed or cubed. What kind of ice you'll get is always a surprise. 3) Clogs often. When you remove the ice bin to clear the clog, it throws ice on the floor. 4) Can't just reach in and grab ice. You have to remove the ice bin.
Summary: I've had the fridge for just under a year, and the fridge itself is fine. However, the ice dispenser is a disaster and for that reason alone I say stay away from this refrigerator. On a good day, I can get a few cubes to actually land in a glass with only a little ending up on the floor. On a bad day, the thing jams up and then dumps handsful of broken ice all over. Or flings it, depending on its mood. Even with a pitcher, I can't catch it all as it flies all over.
