Summary: Finally ditching it after seven years of spotty service now that the freezer hinges gave out, evaporator motor stopped working and most of the cheap plastic shelves are cracked. But those flaws are NOTHING compared to the horrendous excuse for an ice maker LG puts in their machines - reason alone to never, ever buy anything from LG.
Summary: I bought my LG in 2007 and have loved it. Always kept things cold, and the alarm and child lock feature was awesome. Definately helped to remind us if the door was open. It kept everything really cold and there was enough room to hold food/beverage for 7 people. Perfect Fridge.
Summary: Unit performs well and looks good. Those are the good points. The Ice Maker is a JOKE!!!!!!! First of all you must have a small glass to fit in the opening. Second the ice maker I got originally was a complete ffailure of a design it broke the first week I owned the unit. LG has since redesigned the ice make so it does work. However, the unit can't perform because the opening to for the ice to flow through is too small.
Summary: I loved the idea and look of the LG until I started using it. Space use is fantastic, but that is about all it has going for it. The black scratches easily so no magnets at all, and the ice maker does not work. We have had 7 service calls since November of 2007 (and this is August of 2009) on the ice maker. The options cannot be used, the cube ice always has crushed too, and just poor design. I am going to get our warranty replacement today.
Summary: Considering the cost of this Unit - I feel that LG should develope a better system for Drawers to be mounted and slide operation to be much better. Crisper Drawers make a sqealing sound when moved and Chef Drawer falls out of the track over 50 percent of the times used. Also shelves should be on tracks so they will come forward as needed. Maytag and Kenmore units do that at a cheaper price.
