Bad choice - service issues twice now in 4 years!!

Summary: We love the look, style and interior space of this fridge. What we do NOT love is: (1) during the first week unimaginable noises were coming from this fridge, including a crazy chirping sound... get this! a major part needed to be replaced under warranty, in week one of ownership (2) the chirping was fixed, however the fridge is still very loud with random and various noises all night and day (3) things freeze on the rear, top shelf (4) the door ajar warning beep sounds...
Summary: I did my research and picked this LG model as the one that I wanted. Then I researched the best company to buy it from. The intial cost of the unit was just a touch cheaper than the other places, but what sold me was the 0 sales tax, free shipping, plus a $100.00 gift VISA. Score! Very happy with the whole experience.
Summary: Two years in to the purchase of this refrigerator the fuses burn out, however they are fused to the board. If I called a repairman is cost at least $250 to replace the motherboard. So I soldered a new fuse on which worked, but it blew again the next day. A search on the internet shows this is a very common problem, that might have to do with how LG is try to fake a energy star rating. Either way DON'T BUY, do a google search first and see the real reviews.
Summary: We shopped around and priced compared ... this refrigerator was the best deal for what it has to offer! When you open the doors you can see everything ... doors hold many products. Interior drawers slide easily. Only drawback is the doors need a push to close and an alarm goes off if they are not closed. Our family was able to adjust quickly and the alarm does warn you if you are not closed. A great value.
Summary: Beautiful and well laid out refrigerator. There is a slight problem with the doors. They do not close without a push at the end of closing to overcome the latch. LG clearly knew about this so they put a timer alarm on the doors so you would not leave them one inch open. I suggest that LG get rid of the latch and use magnets to hold the door closed. Also, the front is stainless steel but the sides are painted grey. Sides should be ss also.
Summary: OK... this is probably the quietest fridge I've ever owned. Have to really listen to tell if it is running. The bottom freezer is the only way to go. Love having the stuff I use multiple times a day within easy reach and only bend occasionally to get freezer items out. Can't believe they still make fridges the other way. Besides, it is so much easier to get things out of a drawer versus having to 'paw' through a stack of frozen stuff to get to something in the back.
Summary: If you buy this refrigerator we highly recommend an extended warranty and you might want to consider purchasing a freezer to salvage your frozen foods during breakdowns. Our first breakdown was 41 days after purchase. The second breakdown was (to the day) one year from delivery. Warranty would not cover it because it was 1 year and 4 days from purchase date. Not delivery date but purchase date. Third breakdown was one year and 54 daays from delivery.
