Excerpt: We have had our fridge for 2 years and I would not buy another one. Despite being fixed several times, doors won't stay level and fridge side doesn't close on its own. The motor and ice maker are noisy and the ice maker takes about 24 hours to refill if you empty it. Cleaning is difficult as bins don't come out easily and bottom bin is too small. The water filters are very expensive and only last about 3-4 months. Half the time the water isn't even cold.
Excerpt: This fridge looks very nice and my wife is a long time Kitchen Aid fan... however this product met the very definition of planned obsolescence. Before the warranty was up, we had to replace three drawers that broke due to tiny pieces of plastic that hold the handles in place. Lowes was incredible about upholding the warranty and we got replacement parts quickly.
Excerpt: This refrigerator came with our new house. I am so disappointed with the room inside! I wish I could upgrade to a bigger fridge and trade this one in! Small ice maker, would not suggest the side by side!!!
Excerpt: Initially, the control panel (for lack of better name) on the door didn't work: lights showed that door was open when it wasn't and vice versa. We had a repair guy out the first day or two we had it. Today I'll be calling about an ice maker that doesn't work. Grrrr.... We bought this Kitchenaid after a decent run with another Kitchenaid refrigerator (nine years), and this has been frustrating and disappointing.
Excerpt: I bought this because my prior Kitchenaid refrigerators were so good and I loved the layout. This new model has some improved features like LED lighting and new controls, but seems more flimsy than prior units and with fewer shelves. It also arrived with a non functioning ice maker. Kitchenaid directed the local repair company in fixing the ice maker, who took four visits and three weeks to get it repaired. really poor performance for fixing a new unit.
Pros: Convenient Features, Easy to use, Innovative
Cons: Icemaker didn't work, slow response for repairs
Excerpt: I picked this fridge for looks and being counter depth. The Kitchenaid product line as a whole did not match up with the competition on looks with the Samsungs an alike - LED lighting is a must these days, just as dual eval even on the midrange. So it left me with only this particular model and nothing else to choose, as my wife wanted Kitchenaid, I wanted counter depth and modern lighting and dual evaporator.
Cons: water dispenser starts warm, weak and cheap plastics
Excerpt: The refrigerator failed 3 times in less than a year under warranty; plastic swivel piece at the door worn out., the door gets uneven, door does not close and seal. It is small in general. We had to purchase extra shelves for refrigerator and freezer. Ice maker is noisy; unless you use a big open container to serve the ice, ice will spill out to the floor. Drawers are small to place items or access them.
Excerpt: My wife and I purchased the new unit in March. Since then we have had seven service calls from two different repair companies sent by the manufacturer. The unit will still not make ice consistently nor keep frozen items frozen. Between the third and fourth repair call, the ice maker leaked water onto our hardwood floor in the kitchen. I found the leak the next morning, there was water in my basement. So much for Whirlpool / Kitchenaid quality.
Pros: Convenient Features, It looks pretty, Performance
Cons: service and support is lacking, the ice maker does not function properly.
