Summary: Steer clear of this refrigerator. Two major failures in less than two months. Both the compressor and static condensor are failure prone. This has occurred twice with the same source problem resulting in a complete total loss of food items. Kitchen Aid will replace the parts under the warranty, bu they will be replaced with the SAME flawed parts. Service generally requires two visits per failure. This will leave you with ~week without a way to store your food items.
Excerpt: We've had quite a few problems with this refrigerator ever since we bought it, and the problems have continued through the sixth service call, which is scheduled for next week. The ironic thing is that now that it's out of warranty they are asking me to buy an extended warranty, even though the original problems keep recurring.
Excerpt: We waited 12weeks for this refrigerator and received a damaged dented one. You can't get water or ice while refrigerator door is open. Try this with multiple family members during dinner. The design of drawer fronts are terrible these are held on by two 1/4" plastic clips. We've replaced these three times already with average use for family of five.
Excerpt: We have bought MANY kitchenaids, this will be our last. It has been one problem after the next. The ice maker came broken and took 2 different trips to fix, one of the drawers in the freezer broke and they won't fix it (2 months out of our year warranty) and the piece under the water dispenser is rusted already. Ridiculous.

Excerpt: Our drawer broke within the first year. Now being 2 years old the freezer quit working because of the freezer door being opened and shut. the wires on bottom of freezer door rub together causing them to break. We are checking into getting a new freezer door from Kitchenaid.
