Hide a Fridge

GJS11, pcrichard.com
  • Excerpt: We are thrilled with our new fridge and decided to have panels made to match the cupboards. The fridge has great features and is so convenient to use and access. I don't like water on the door, so inside it is accessible, but discrete.

Love this fridge!

Ellygirl, pcrichard.com

  • Excerpt: I bought this refrigerator after having a good experience with Kitchen Aid gas range and microwave. This fridge has so much more space than our previous standard depth side by side! Things don't get "lost" in the back like a standard depth. Good organization of shelves. Like putting juice, milk, etc. in the door. Also, like having a special drawer for pizza's and large flat items.

Much Smaller than You Think

Odonned, pcrichard.com

  • Excerpt: Very small interior frig and freezer. Plan on buying a second freezer so you can store more than one or two meals. Water dispenser inside the frig is a pain. Poor design since you have to open the frig for water. Dispenser also drips into the frig. This unit is panel ready, but be aware that the panels will not be flush with your cabinets because doors won't open unless it is pulled out several inches.

More room!

Underdog, pcrichard.com
30 April 2014
  • Excerpt: I put cherry panels on the doors with European pulls and it looks great. Because it is only semi recessed, the sides of the doors are black metal but it looks fine. We were surprised that even though the counter depth refrigerator is smaller than our old one it seems to have more room! The water dispenser inside the refrigerator is one of our favorite features.

  • Excerpt: Remodeled the kitchen of a home we moved into and this fridge fit perfectly into the space left behind. I had overlay doors made to match the cabinets which had just been painted white, added some great handles and it looks fabulous….more importantly, the storage in the fridge has been perfect!

The temperature performance in the refrigerator is poor.

Lady7, pcrichard.com
24 November 2013
  • Excerpt: We have owned the refrigerator for three months, and have not been able to regulate the temperature. The temperature performance in the refrigerator vacillates from 23 to 40 degrees. Water bottles freeze at the top with temperature set at 39. We are scheduled for a repair. Also, the compressor motor is very loud.
  • Pros: Design, Easy to use, roomy for a cabinet depth refrigerator
  • Cons: repair necessary in the first months

Not a good look for panel ready

Surprised Kitchenaid Patron, AJ Madison
13 November 2013
  • Summary: This panel ready refrigerator has to stick out far beyond your adjacent panels and cabinets in order for the door to open properly. If you are going for a built-in type look, do not buy this refrigerator. It will disappoint you. The black prefab fridge cabinet sticks out about 2-1/2 to 3" and then your matching wood panel is attached to that. Very frustrating when you pay all that money for a kitchen and the fridge ruins the look!

Works well, attractive. Be careful: you'll see the black edges of the doors, even with the panels installed.

Carolyn A., Amazon

  • Summary: This is a great fridge! It blends in nicely with our custom cherry kitchen, and it looks elegant. Because the fridge is not immediately adjacent to much, you don't notice that it protrudes beyond counter depth (it is NOT a sub-zero style counter depth fridge.) Note that you will see the black edges of the doors that hold the fridge panels. I have dark soapstone countertops, and the black looks great with them.

not good for panels

jpib, AJ Madison
1 August 2013
  • Summary: I like the refrigerator, but with wood panels on it, I notice the 1 inch space between the upper doors and the freezer door and the misalignment such that the freezer sticks out 1/2 inch. In fact, the unit sticks out almost 4 inches more than the surrounding cabinets. Not well designed. I'm trying to see these design problems as an advantage adding 3-D geometry to my small kitchen. Beware of these issues before purchasing a panel ready model.
